The 'Cutty Sark' awaiting a #cargo of wool in Sydney Harbour, 1890. In July 1889, is recorded that the SS Britannia, when steaming at 15–16 knots was overtaken in the night by the Cutty Sark doing 17 knots.

What are your plans @mtpennycook to address the pollution (and the associated health risks for residents) from the 14 cruise ships scheduled to dock in #Greenwich this year? https://t.co/pSgdcviLSF
On 22 November Cutty Sark is 150 years old!🎂 For the whole birthday weekend, anyone living or studying in Greenwich will be able to get FREE entry to Cutty Sark, as well as anyone living in Dumbarton where the ship was built in 1869! https://t.co/FnYeIlT30c #GM_T
The PLA wants to extend its powers to levy charges, borrow and remove exemptions. There is no mention of controlling pollution or implementing onshore power for large vessels. This “consultation” doesn’t even allow the ability for those to be suggested! @notoxicport @EGRA_London
Consultation has begun on an update to legislation that allows us to do our job: promotion and protection of the Tidal Thames.

This is a worthless statement from a Council who:
-Unilateraly decided to stop meeting with @NCQResidents
-Refuse to push Galliard on missing the June 2020 remediation deadline
-Refuse to provide any kind of oversight around the remediation work
Utterly shameful @DanLThorpe
This plan was pulled together following 4 months of consulting with the #Greenwich community. If you’d like to have your say or learn more about the project, then there’s still time fill in our short survey 👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻 https://t.co/NB7y7iM9bK @Royal_Greenwich#lovemypark
These stats prove that our national #CladdingScandal is not about class or tenure - it’s about deregulation, greed and failures in both local and national government. False narratives must be challenged to ensure the right people are held accountable
The damning conclusion from today’s publication of the #Grenfell report on the role of ACM cladding “There is compelling evidence that Requirement B4(1) was not met in this case. It would be an affront to common sense to hold otherwise“ #CladdingScandal https://t.co/RKxsK7cd7j
So what have you learned @LondonPortAuth and when are you going to make changes to address cruise ship pollution at Greenwich Ship Tier? (which as you known is adjacent to a very heavily populated residential area)? @notoxicport@HardwickRalph@ExtinctionR
Learning from the experience of Norway in greening inland shipping with the CEO of NCE Maritime CleanTech cluster of partner companies, now involving London’s own @thamesclippers#GIS19
@mtpennycook@notoxicport Sorry to push the point - but why isn’t a *temporary* ban in light of the health concerns a realistic proposition? Overhauling the regulatory arrangements (or installing onshore power here) for a longer term solution can be worked in parallel
It was a bit disappointing to hear you say that “I do not believe that the solution to this problem is to ban all cruise liners from entering London” Until tighter emissions standards can be enforced, this is precisely the action that is needed to protect residents @notoxicport
In the midst of the current turmoil, I have a Westminster Hall debate today on emissions from vessels on the River Thames including cruise liners berthing at Greenwich Pier. We need a single overarching regulator and a far more effective emissions control framework for the river.
