I am having a great time in Coastal Envirothon Competition at Weyerhaeuser's Cool Springs Environmental Education Center, New Bern, North Carolina. We are focused on Soils and Land Management. @NCStateCALS@CropAndSoil@NCExtension
I had a great time in western North Carolina today talking about “Best practices for mitigating impacts of flood deposits.”. Specific guidelines for soil management after hurricane Helene were delivered. @CropAndSoil@NCExtension@NCStateCALS
Open to all disciplines who work in sandy soils!
Abstract submissions for the 2nd Global Conference on Sandy Soils close on 14th March.

NC State qualified for national soil judging last week. I didn’t get to bed until 3 am last Friday, hence the late tweet. We had the #1, 3, and 4 judgers. Congrats to the team!
I am looking for a postdoctoral research scholar to work on soil health, carbon sequestration and saltwater intrusion related questions. More detail are here https://t.co/YUHdsBVFOd

The Department of Soil Science has a new name — the Department of Soil and Environmental Sciences. This change is indicative of their expanded commitment to the broader environmental challenges that intersect with soil science. @DepartmentSoil

Hard times make it clear who is the best friend for us. Here are pictures taken just a few minutes ago from tillage plots @infoCEFS showing drought stress for corn in conventional tillage while no-till helps water conservation. @NCExtension@CropAndSoil
Last night’s meetng wraps up @pasquotankCES producer meeting season. Great info by @NCStateWeedSci on herbicide resistant weeds mgt & Dr Ozlu cover crops. That’s @NCExtension mission, providing researched based info on issues people are confronted w/. Now see if adopted.
Can grazing cover crops jumpstart soil health for new organic farms? @ekremozlu & 4 partner groups will investigate in a new NIFA-funded study.
And their findings are heading to a surprisingly young audience via school curriculum.

Soil sampling was great early morning with students at @infoCEFS . We have capacity of conducting soil samples from each 2 inches up to 1 meter deep in profile. Interesting soils hard pan developments are common in coastal plain. @CropAndSoil@NCExtension
From todays sampling, @NCState_SM started active research and extension with conservation management impacts on soil health and compaction in Sandy soils of Pender county @CropAndSoil
