Jeremy in Sconny’s harpsichord rendition of Mozart’s dark and stormy concerto No. 20 caught the eyes and ears of both the mayor and his daughter at the recent town masquerade.
It seems most of you don’t want a greatest hits event. And since I do this for the people, this is indeed the people’s account, not mine to hoard. But I made my peace with retirement.
So if someone truly wants to run it and vows to devote the effort, I’ll give them the password.
Lots of negative reaction to the announcement.
The feeling was that the brilliant UUUs we get are fewer and farther in between the terrible, unfunny ones.
Plus, there’s only so many ways you can say that a man’s balls are in his wife’s purse.
This year’s #NCUUU tourney will be different from years past.
This will be a “greatest hits” event.
64 UUUs from the previous five contests will be chosen by a committee, thrown into a hat, drawn at random and set into a bracket without seeds.
@D_in_Camarillo No, that we can handle. It’s the same “husband is a chick, wife is the man” jokes every year. And it’s not that we mind those either; again, there’s only so many original ones out there. And we’ve done 99% of them. Better to end it on our terms than to have it ended for us.
@BrockInThe402 It’s not laziness. The desire to do the work to compile these lists and sort the strong from the weak is as fierce as it ever was. But even if there are still drops in the UUU well (which every now and then, we get a great one), the jokes are too derivative of one another.
2021 was a great tournament after 2020’s mediocre one. Lightning wasn’t going to strike twice. Rather let the tourney ride off into the horizon than take it out back and insert a slug into its brain stem.
We don’t like it either, but sometimes the necessary thing is difficult.
