Best thing about listening to classical music is all the emotions it inspires in you that don’t have names for. We are capable of so much more complexity that most art asks of us.
You have to wonder how many parents are afraid that if they raise kids who are emotional, expressive, sensitive, nuanced, and vulnerable enough to experience in a meaningful way, those kids will just end hurt by the world.
We are so afraid of each other, afraid of failure.
Anything can happen if given the necessary sequence of events. You can have whatever you want given your willingness to start the chain reaction necessary to produce your desired outcome.
Love is a childhood toy we grow out of and let gather dust on a shelf, before boxing it up, saving it for sentimental value, and leaving it somewhere in the dark for our children to find and wonder at.
I get why young people crave revolution. It's not socialism they want, it's human fucking connection. Millennials are not the problem. Friendsgiving and FriendsChistmas are not millennials destroying family, they're young people escaping the constrictions of holiday idealism.
I'm not the most religious guy alive but I'm with the people who say they want Christ in Christmas as long as that means a return to the solemnity and quiet sense of renewal that form the secular pagan and Judeo-Christian roots of the holiday season and Christmas.
