Britain should absolutely teach the slave trade — honestly, completely and without sanitising it.

But perhaps the UN could also remember that Britain abolished its slave trade in 1807, abolished slavery across most of its Empire in 1833, and then spent blood, ships and treasure suppressing the trade.

History deserves context, not selective accounting.

We don't need guilt by monument. We need history — ALL of it.

So, a migrant boat attempted to reach the UK from France this week. During the boat ride:
