Let us #PrayTogether that the mental health ministry be established throughout the Church, helping to overcome the stigma and discrimination of persons with mental illnesses. Be a part of this prayer: https://t.co/RQWBPajjtx #PrayerIntention@clicktopray_en
The #GospelOfTheDay is a call to conversion, both tender and urgent. God wants us to live, to open our eyes, and return to Him. To repent is to leave the paths on which we lost our way, and to follow the Way of Life, opening our hearts to the sole joy that never fades.
Here in Lourdes, the city of the sick and of hope, I appeal to the entire healthcare community to remember the profound meaning of your vocation, which is to care for a suffering person, not to eliminate that person. Be passionate servants of life! No one ever has the right to decide the life of any person. Medicine must never become the servant of programmed death! #ApostolicJourney #France https://t.co/gMbrY7eA6G
In order to become authentic human progress – that is, progress for the whole person and for all people – technical and scientific progress must be inspired and guided by charity. Only in this way can it always be placed at the service of human dignity and promote the living conditions of all, especially the most disadvantaged. #GeneralAudience
Sunday, 27 September, marks the World Day of Migrants and Refugees. My thoughts go out to migrants and refugees, especially minors compelled to leave their homeland. Children and teenagers are the most vulnerable. They often endure unspeakable suffering, violence, torture, exploitation, and traumatic conditions. It is not uncommon for them to lose their lives along migration routes. I appeal to everyone’s sense of responsibility: may we all feel a sense of involvement in the lives of these young people, who must always be protected and supported.
“And he said to all: If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life, shall lose it; for he that shall lose his life for my sake, shall save it.”
Luke 9:23-24
God has different ways and fresh ideas even for those who consider themselves to be first and believe they have earned what they have, that they deserved the results they have achieved. Instead, we all gain joy, wisdom and a better future when the law of love interrupts that of calculation, when the experience of mercy broadens that of merit, and when the gift of peace suspends rivalries and brings us closer together in gratitude. #GospelOfTheDay (Mt 20:1–16) https://t.co/9kXOj6njbb
The Church does not exist for herself, but to lead every person to an encounter with the Lord. It is therefore not enough to ask whether an activity is well organized, well attended, or has been running for many years. We must ask whether it truly leads people to Christ and brings the Gospel into contact with the concrete realities of people’s lives.
“And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
Matthew 16:18🇻🇦
Witnesses of faith do not propose an ideology; rather, they reveal a faith lived out in daily life. Their credibility stems from the consistency between their words and actions, a consistency often maintained even to the point of the ultimate sacrifice. In indifferent cultural contexts, “the holiness next door” and quiet heroism become compelling arguments capable of challenging everyone, even the most distrustful.
