Autism trait: You are always the "third wheel" at social gatherings
From my own experience, "putting yourself out there" is basically social cuckholdry if you're autistic. All you're doing is watching while other people have fun together.
First of all, you always have to fight tooth and nail to get a single word in. You're always competing with louder, more charismatic individuals who hog all the attention.
Second, most people at these events already know each-other. There have been so many times where I'd go somewhere to meet people, except everyone would bring their friends and SOs and I'd just be left out.
There's just no point. It's a big club, but you ain't in it.
This is how I’m moving through crowds because people are actually stupid asf now and have no spatial awareness and walk entirely too slow all of the time
You should study what makes you defensive. The topic you avoid, the joke that irritates you, the question that feels insulting, the feedback you instantly reject. Defensiveness is usually the guard dog sitting in front of a weakness you have not trained yourself to face.
This video is a very nice demonstration of a simple truth about people. Most are tremendous cowards who only get away with what they think they can get away with. When people push you around, or try to, it's because they think they can do it without resistance. Most people are not prepared for resistance and fold the instant they encounter it. You get what you tolerate.
Unpopular opinion: I don't think your life has to have a purpose, or you a grand ambition; I think it's okay to just wander through life finding interesting things until you die
