🚨Publication Alert!🚨Out now in @iScience_CP, we show that the physical forces generated by growing breast tumors can rewire the metabolism of nearby healthy stromal cells to support cancer progression, a form of tumor-host communication known as #mechanometabolism. (1/3)
🚀Launch alert! @NDTIMELab is ready to blast off our next cancer research experiment to the @ISS_CASIS on @SpaceX-34, funded by @NSF. We are sending #glioblastoma patient-derived organoids in an experiment designed by @NotreDame grads and implemented by @space_tango. Stay tuned!

In 2024, Graduate Student Alice Burchett and her lab mates drove 17 hours to Kennedy Space Center with a unique Cargo: Vials of Brain Cancer Cells.
The hope is that these cells, after a 40 day Space Trip, would hold the Cure to Glioblastroma.

✨🚀I am honored to be this year's recipient of the @BMESociety Rita Schaffer Young Investigator Award. This is a direct reflection of my amazing trainees in @NDTIMELab. I look forward to sharing our work on mechano-immunology on Earth and in space. BMES ad astra!
Dr. Pinar Zorlutuna, the director of the Bioengineering Program, will be returning to UIUC next Wednesday to give a talk on her lab's work to engineer models of tissue aging as platforms for discovery of new therapeutics. Please join if you are in the area!
We are thrilled to have 5 REU students in the @NDTIMELab this summer! Each student won a competitive @NotreDame fellowship to sponsor their research - from cancer immunology to science in space. Learn more about these talented students here! https://t.co/Q2b1V7C64d
Thanks to @UNDResearch for the shout out! From research, to education, to industry collaborations, to workforce development, @NotreDame is cultivating the next generation of leaders for the commercial space sector. Irish ad astra! 🚀🍀 https://t.co/TE6ao51wQu
Learned so much on how convergence between engineering and science makes a difference in cancer care at National Academies meeting on Cancer Engineering @theNASEM As important, if not more, is communicating it @DrRobWinn We have 34% more lives thanks to cancer research
