The conventional rockets like raptor are quite good. But it's a decade old technology.
Where Musk is more involved personally, it becomes a desaster: See Starship (planned 100-150tons payload will be only 50).

And I'm even skeptical about that. This makes the whole moon landing plan impossible! Seems self landing rockets have a lot of problems...
