“They are doing extremely well. Even before Summer Game Fest 2026, both FFVI Remake and Rebirth had been selling steadily. Back when Rebirth was announced, every time it became a hot topic, sales of Remake would rise. Similarly, I’m sure every time Revelation attracts attention, more people will become interested in Rebirth.

Following Summer Game Fest 2026, we saw an enormous response in terms of sales. I can’t share specific figures, but sales are several times better than we had expected. 

I think fans and dedicated fan communities are very interested in how many copies the games have sold, but I can say they’re performing even better than most people probably imagine. That means more and more people are playing the previous entries, which gives me great confidence as we prepare to release FFVII Revelation to the world. 
I know there are requests for us to disclose the numbers, but that’s something that falls under our investor relations policies, so I hope people understand.”

Reminder that Sonys security, online infrastructure, and EULAs are woefully bad in therms of the pitch of an all digital future.

Account theft on the PSN is bad right now, (I get if it hasn’t impacted you, you think it isn’t, but it is) imagine how much worse it will be when every single PSN account is worth far more due to being entirely digital.

Being banned for being an idiot in an online game simply shouldn’t lock you out of playing every single digital game you purchased.

The demand to keep physical games is respectable but the real fight in my opinion is around proper ownership, improved infrastructure and better user agreements.

Other platform holders absolutely have this problem but Sony through PlayStation are the industry leader and they have a responsibility to nurture the medium into a better place which they simply aren’t doing.

It becomes increasingly confusing to me how anyone can disagree with that.

I sympatheize with the physical gaming battle, as I was a big physical game collector for the longest time. That being said:

If this is the route that we're headed in next generation, give us ownership of our digital purchases. PSN needs a serious step up.
