The Neurocognition and Emotion in Affective Disorders (NEAD) Centre exploring research into cognitive impairments and affective disorders. Led by @kamillawm
Meet NEAD Centre!
The NEAD Centre is led by Prof Kamilla Miskowiak and consists of an interdisciplinary team of psychologists, medical doctors, neuroscientists, psychiatric nurses, and students. Together, we work on research into cognitive impairments and affective disorders.
It’s been an inspiring @ISBD4 in Reykjavik! @kamillawm and @hanne_kjaerstad from #NEAD took part in symposia on cognition in mood disorders alongside @TamsynVR, Dr Tsapekos & Prof Richard Porter. It was a privilege to contribute to the discussions in such a beautiful settings!
Exciting highlights from NEAD Centre at @ISBD4 Reykjavík! 🌍 Researcher @hanne_kjaerstad wins Samuel Gershon Junior Investigator Award, while our team presents cutting-edge research on cognition, virtual reality therapy, and neuroimaging in mood disorders. Thank you #ISBD2024! 🧠
Honored to receive the @ISBD4 Samuel Gershon Junior Investigator Award! I am very grateful to the ISBD and @EMC_ISBD4 for their continued support and commitment to early and mid-career researchers and clinicians working in the field of bipolar disorder!
Excited to attend the @ISBD4 Annual Conference in Reykjavik, Iceland 🇮🇸 I'll be at the Neurotorium desk on October 1st from 10-10:30 am—come say hello and chat about bipolar disorder research and more. Looking forward to connecting with everyone there!
Thrilled to announce a new cross-Nordic collaboration in digital mental health!
We're teaming up with experts from ForHelse, Youwell, and Lund University to develop PreParent—an innovative tool to identify risk factors and prevent postpartum depression.

Many with neuropsychiatric disorders experience memory impairment. Limited pro-cognitive treatments may stem from difficulties studying neural correlates. We validated a novel fMRI task simulating grocery list memorization. Read more here: https://t.co/yz2Oi91kQH
📢 Exciting News! We're conducting a ground-breaking study to prevent postpartum depression in pregnant women through innovative emotional cognitive training. Stay tuned for results! https://t.co/MBHw1Bu5du

📣New paper investigating the neural underpinnings of emotional cognition impairments in bipolar disorder.
Findings suggest that broad impairments in emotional cognition may originate from insufficient recruitment of prefrontal resources, contributing to poorer clinical outcomes
March 30th is #WorldBipolarDay, coinciding with Van Gogh's birthday, who was likely affected by bipolar disorder.
In a recent video by @neurotorium, I delve into the complexities of the disorder. Check it out here 👇
✨Exciting news! 🧠 In our recently published article, Prof @kamillawm and I highlight the important role of cognitive screening in clinical settings to guide treatment and potentially reduce the risk of adverse clinical course in mood disorder patients.
