I’d love to be CEO of Twitch for a year to try to help fix things.
We started Elgato around the time https://t.co/EniirKqzhq rebranded to Twitch. In the following years, it was amazing to see Twitch turn into a cultural phenomenon. It was admired by the gaming community - creators and viewers alike. Bleed Purple was a real thing. Twitch was innovative. They put live streaming on the map. They took moderation seriously. They took monetisation seriously. They innovated.
I don’t pretend to know what’s going on behind the scenes or that I am smarter than anyone. I never post unfiltered thoughts like this either. But these days, it’s painful to look on from the outside.
The first 3 things I’d aim to do:
1) Roll back the 50/50 sub split decision. 70/30 in favor of streamers is a must. If this is really not financially viable then there have to be ways to improve profitability that are not at the expense of creators.
2) Invest into new monetisation options for streamers. Things like affiliate revenue from Amazon purchases seems completely underutilised on the platform, for example. With all the tech at Amazon, why is it not possible for a streamer to let machine vision automatically recognise certain products being shown on stream and auto attach an affiliate link to them? Why aren’t there better native tools for gifting products on Amazon? Twitch streamers could probably drive a ridiculous amount of commerce back to Amazon if the tools and incentives were better. I'm sure some of you have some absolutely incredible ideas for monetisation.
3) Try to bring back people that know and love the community. Maybe guys like @theGunrun, @djWHEAT, @ErnestLe would consider coming back to help out or consult? Over the years, I’ve met so many exceptionally talented and passionate people at Twitch. Unfortunately it seems like most of them are not there anymore.
One thing is certain - I preferred seeing Twitch thrive. What do you think? How can Twitch return to its glory days?
I'm in shock.
Texas has introduced a bill (SB1029) to effectively BAN ALL GENDER AFFIRMING CARE COVERAGE FOR ALL AGES. If a Doctor or Insurance provides gender affirming care they could be sued for malpractice.

the situation on the ground is dire and the turkish govt is actively trying to cover up their incompetence. here's a reporter moving away from a recently freed survivor who tries to inform people that her family is still under the rubble w no help from the govt for 3 days.
Every Pink Floyd song:
+ dank atmosphere
+ tasty guitar riffs
+ field recordings of old British people saying intimidating things like “you don’t get to eat your pudding until you’ve had your green beans”
