In ELA, we saw similar trends with the data... 5th graders showing the most proficiency lost in comparing 2021 with 2019 results. They stood out at over 9% loss, where other grades showed less than 4% loss.

Educators must look at data at the Standards Level to determine where the vertical weaknesses are in comparison to the major focus Standards.

Comparing data across years, of the 5th graders who took the NYS Math Assessments in 2021, over 12% of all students lost proficiency since their 3rd grade assessment in 2019. This was the biggest math loss across grades 5 - 8.
