Lawson has announced a stablecoin payment pilot using $JPYC and this isn’t just about accepting crypto. It’s about making blockchain invisible.
It’s the clearest example yet of what we’ve been calling Web2.5, where existing payment infrastructure remains unchanged while blockchain quietly becomes the settlement layer underneath.
Let’s break down what’s actually happening:
The customer experience
The customer opens their HashPort wallet. A familiar retail barcode appears, the cashier scans it using the existing Lawson checkout. The customer then approves the payment. The receipt prints “payment successful” without worrying about wallet addresses, or copying QR strings.
To the customer it feels no different to PayPay or Rakuten Pay and that’s the exactly recipe for mass adoption.
So who actually does what?
Lawson (@akiko_lawson) remains exactly what it already is, the retailer.
Its POS, inventory, receipts and cashier workflow don’t change. Staff don’t need blockchain knowledge because the blockchain sits behind the existing checkout experience.
HashPort (@hashport_io) provides the customer wallet. That’s where the user holds JPYC, receives the payment request and authorises the transaction.
Canal Payment Service is the bridge into Lawson’s existing payment infrastructure. When the barcode is scanned, Canal routes the payment request through the same retail payment network Lawson already uses. From the POS’s perspective, it’s simply another supported payment method.
KDDI (@official_kddi) is arguably one of the most overlooked participants. Beyond providing enterprise payment integration, KDDI brings an enormous consumer ecosystem through au ID, au PAY, Ponta Points, banking and financial services.
If this expands beyond the pilot, stablecoin payments could become seamlessly integrated with loyalty rewards, merchant offers and financial products. That’s when blockchain stops being a niche technology and becomes part of everyday commerce.
WEA (@WEAJapan) creates the payment session and generates the merchant-compatible barcode. This bridged native blockchain assets into Japan’s existing retail payment infrastructure. Also handling the enterprise payment workflow required for KYC and AML compliance.
WEA also enables refund functionality, something consumers expect from traditional payment systems but which is often overlooked in blockchain payments.
This isn’t just another wallet, it’s the technical bridge that allows Web3 assets to function inside Web2/ real-world commerce.
Interestingly, WEA Pay now supports JPYC/ Polygon and generates both QR codes and traditional Japanese retail payment barcodes, the exact payment experience required for this type of POS integration.
NetX (@netx_world) is the settlement layer. Polygon remains the asset layer but NetX coordinates everything happening around the payment such as; merchant authentication, settlement orchestration, payment verification, enterprise auditability, privacy-preserving proofs, compliance workflows, refund coordination and confirmation back to the POS.
That’s a very different role from simply moving tokens between wallet addresses.
NetStars (@Kouhou_NSS) completes the commercial payment flow. Operating under its regulated Money Transfer Business licence, NetStars receives the JPYC payment, handles the conversion into fiat JPY and ultimately settles Japanese Yen into the merchant’s bank account. This means Lawson never needs to hold or manage crypto directly, they simply receive JPY through the same enterprise settlement process expected by any major retailer. Blockchain powers the payment behind the scenes, while the merchant experience remains entirely familiar.
Putting it all together

⬇️
WEA creates a secure payment session and merchant-compatible barcode
⬇️
Lawson scans using its existing POS
⬇️
Canal routes the payment through Lawson’s existing retail payment infrastructure
⬇️
Customer authorises the JPYC transaction on Polygon
⬇️
NetStars receives the JPYC, converts it and settles fiat JPY to Lawson
⬇️
NetX coordinates settlement, compliance, privacy-preserving verification and confirmation
⬇️

To the customer, it feels exactly like every other digital payment and this is huge because the biggest barrier to blockchain adoption has never been the technology. It’s been the user experience.
This architecture allows existing retail infrastructure to remain untouched while blockchain delivers programmable money, enterprise-grade settlement, privacy-preserving compliance and automated financial workflows behind the scenes.
Thats the definition of Web2.5. Not replacing Web2 but upgrading it.
If KDDI’s wider ecosystem eventually plugs into this architecture, the implications become even more interesting. Imagine paying with a stablecoin while automatically earning Ponta Points, redeeming loyalty rewards, receiving AI-driven merchant offers or using programmable payments across retail, banking and financial services.
All without changing the user or merchant checkout experience.
What's next for AI isn't a bigger model. It's an economy of them.
The first thing a society of agents grows is its own software, domain by domain, toward general-purpose computing no single company owns.
Not a better SaaS. The end of software as a thing you buy, and the start of software as a thing that lives.

Hey everyone,
I’ve been in Japan recently, attending several meetings and speaking with different ecosystem partners, so the originally planned community AMA has been slightly adjusted and will be moved back a bit.
During this time, I’ve also seen many friends in the community asking the same question: What’s next for NetX Network?
So I’d like to take this opportunity to share some of my personal thoughts.
In my view, NetX Network has officially started, but a true Network is never completed on the day it launches.
It grows gradually as more developers, enterprises, AI Agents, applications, and users join, eventually forming real network effects.
So from my perspective, the evolution of NetX Network will continue across three stages:
The first stage is the Trusted Validator Network.
At this stage, the focus is to make the Network more stable and more trusted.
We will continue improving core infrastructure, validator nodes, enterprise nodes, Bridge, developer tools, and other foundational capabilities, laying the groundwork for more applications and use cases to enter the Network.
The second stage is the Open Application Network.
As the foundational capabilities become more mature, the focus will gradually shift toward developers, DApps, Agent applications, and ecosystem collaboration.
We hope to see more applications truly running on NetX Network. We will also push forward the first Hackathon and developer support program, bringing more developers and teams into the ecosystem.
The third stage is the AI Economic Network.
In my view, this is also the most important stage for NetX. When more Agents, enterprises, developers, users, and real-world services enter the same Network, they will continuously generate collaboration, payments, service calls, and value exchange.
At that point, NetX Network will no longer be just about on-chain interactions. It will become an AI Agent economic network that can operate continuously.
At the same time, my partners in NetX DAO and I are also pushing forward several important priorities:
• Continue expanding the Trusted Validator Network and bringing in more nodes and enterprises.
• Promote integration with more third-party wallets, ecosystem partners, and infrastructure providers.
• Continue discussions with exchanges regarding NetX Network integration.
• Advance the development of a stablecoin payment network, starting from Japan together with partners such as WEA Japan, and gradually expanding to more countries and regions.
NetX Network wasn't built to be a blockchain that simply waits for applications to arrive.
We're building a Network where developers, enterprises, on-chain applications, and AI Agents can collaborate seamlessly—powering real services, real payments, and sustainable economic activity.
The real challenge is not Launch, but Build.
The real value is not TPS, but continuously creating economic activity.
Thank you to everyone who has continued to support NetX, and thank you to every member of NetX DAO for your contribution.Let’s build NetX Network together. 🚀 @netx_world@WEAJapan

For years the question hanging over AI was "how powerful can it get?" We believe a more important one is: who can it be trusted to?
Today we start answering that in production.
Phase One of the NetX Network is live — the first ground where agents owned by millions of different people can act under rules none of them can rewrite. Distributed power, under shared rules.
This is how you get a world of millions of autonomous agents that stays aligned with human interest: not one giant mind we hope behaves, but an open society no single actor can capture.
Alignment you can verify. Coordination at Internet scale. A digital society that governs itself.
This is the starting line. The next decade gets built from here.

⌛️ The wait is almost over.
Ten years ago, we started with a simple question:
If the future internet is powered by AI Agents, how will they collaborate, transact, and create value securely?
From trusted networks to value circulation and Web3 payments, NetX has spent a decade building the foundation for that future.
Now, that vision is about to become operational.
The Agent Economy Network is about to come alive.

A chain for Agents is only the beginning.
The real goal is bigger: giving AI a society.
Not one larger model trained in isolation, but millions of specialized Agents that can coordinate, trade, verify work, enforce rules, and improve through selection.
That is why NetX is not building just another faster chain.
We are building the substrate for the second evolution of AI.
Not a faster chain.
A different future.

📰 Stablecoin Payment Breaking News
Over the past few days, several important developments have emerged across Japan’s stablecoin payments sector.
1️⃣ June 13 | Japan’s Revised Payment Services Act (PSA) Fully Takes Effect
The revised PSA requirements have officially entered into force, covering stablecoin issuance, service provider registration, AML/CFT compliance, reserve management, and disclosure obligations.
This marks another step toward a more transparent and regulated stablecoin market in Japan. For the payments industry, a clearer regulatory framework provides a stronger foundation for stablecoins to move beyond experimentation and into real-world commercial use.
2️⃣ June 10 | Japan’s Three Largest Banks Advance a Joint Stablecoin Initiative
MUFG, Mizuho, and SMBC announced the formation of a joint council to study stablecoin issuance, governance, and operational frameworks, with plans to begin commercial transaction testing during fiscal year 2026.
What stands out is that the discussion is no longer focused solely on issuing stablecoins, but on how they can be integrated into real payment and settlement environments. When Japan’s largest banks begin exploring these questions, it signals growing interest from the traditional financial sector in the future of stablecoin payments.
💡 What does this tell us?
Viewed together, these developments highlight a broader shift taking place across the industry.
Regulators are establishing clearer rules. Banks are exploring issuance and operational models. The conversation is gradually moving beyond “which stablecoin will win” toward a more practical question:
😃How can stablecoins become part of the real economy?
For stablecoin payments, the key challenge is no longer creating new digital assets. It is building the connections between merchants, payment providers, financial institutions, and everyday commercial activity.
That is why WEA continues to focus on payment and settlement infrastructure for stablecoin adoption. At the same time, NetX provides the secure and reliable blockchain infrastructure needed to support asset transfers, payment settlement, and interoperability across networks.
As regulation, banking, payment networks, and blockchain infrastructure become increasingly connected, a new phase of stablecoin adoption is beginning to take shape in Japan.
🔥Together with our partners across the StarPay-X ecosystem, WEA will continue helping bridge digital assets with real-world commerce and support the growth of stablecoin payments at scale.

The market does not need another public chain with “better-looking parameters.” 🌍
Higher TPS, lower gas fees, faster finality, and stronger EVM compatibility all matter.
But if the core logic of a chain is still built around “humans clicking buttons, signing, and initiating transactions,” then it is still an extension of the previous generation of Web3.
Agents change that. 🤖
They do not sit in front of a screen waiting for confirmation. They can run 24/7, continuously call services, coordinate tasks, trigger payments, and work with other Agents to complete complex collaboration.
This is no longer just “another transaction.”
It is a new form of on-chain collaboration. 🔗
That is why NetX is not building another boring public chain.
NetX is building the chain for Agents.

🔍What makes #NetX Mainnet different?
Most blockchains are designed for people to interact with applications and transfer value.
NetX is designed for #Agents to work, collaborate, transact, and create value across the network.🤖
At the foundation of the NetX architecture are two core layers:
🌐NetX Mainnet (Layer 1)
Supporting smart contracts, applications, payments, and Agent activities.
🛡Trusted Layer (-1)
Providing identity, reputation, verification, and trust for every interaction across the network.
As Agent activity grows, trust becomes a critical part of how value is created and exchanged.
That's why NetX combines Layer 1 infrastructure with a Trusted Layer, creating an environment where Agents can operate, collaborate, and contribute to a sustainable economic network.
From Human-Centric Blockchain ➡️ To Agent-Centric Economic Network
Connecting more than transactions.
Connecting Agents, services, and economic activity.

🤔When people talk about stablecoin payments, the first thing that often comes to mind is a crypto card.
Load USDT onto a card, swipe it like a traditional bank card, and complete a purchase. This model has undoubtedly made digital assets more accessible and helped bring crypto into everyday spending.
😓However, from a payment infrastructure perspective, users still need to apply for a card, preload funds, and rely on traditional card networks to complete transactions. The payment flow involves multiple intermediaries, while merchants themselves are not directly connected to stablecoin payment systems.
The bigger challenge is not simply how users spend digital assets. It’s how users can pay seamlessly, how merchants can accept payments effortlessly, and how payments, settlement, and future cross-border transactions can work together efficiently.
🌈So what if users could pay directly from their wallets, while merchants could seamlessly access stablecoin payment capabilities?
That’s the direction WEA has been building toward.
Rather than relying on card issuers and traditional banking rails, #WEA focuses on connecting stablecoins, wallets, POS networks, and real-world merchants, allowing stablecoin payments to integrate naturally into existing commerce.
🏬For users, payments should feel as simple as using fiat. For merchants, accepting payments should fit seamlessly into existing checkout workflows. And for the broader ecosystem, this requires efficient payment networks, reliable settlement infrastructure, and lower operational costs.
Within the StarPay-X ecosystem, WEA serves as an important payment infrastructure partner, helping connect stablecoins, wallets, POS networks, and merchant systems. At the same time, payment providers, merchant networks, and technology partners are working together to bring stablecoin payments into real-world commercial environments.
💪From customer payments and merchant acceptance to settlement and asset movement, every step requires dependable infrastructure. The underlying blockchain technology supporting this foundation is powered by #NetX.
The future of stablecoin payments isn’t simply about creating another way to spend crypto.
🚀It’s about building an open payment network that connects users, merchants, payment systems, and global commerce—allowing stablecoins to become a natural part of everyday economic activity.🌏
