We are deeply concerned by the UK government’s use of terrorism legislation to repress Palestine Action, a non-violent group not unlike those Keir Starmer once defended as a human rights lawyer.
We urge the Home Secretary and Prime Minister to drop this heavy-handed move and to safeguard our democracy, not imperil it.
⬇️ See below for how to take action.
The School Teachers’ Review Body (STRB) has made its recommendation and the report is sitting on Bridget Phillipson’s desk. We ask the Education Secretary to publish the report now and fund fair pay for teachers and our schools. #NEU2025#FundFairPay
A 2.8% pay award for 2025 will not address the crisis in recruitment and retention.
An unfunded pay award will not address the crisis in funding.
The government has said in its evidence to the pay review body that schools can make "efficiencies" – but can your school?
We want the government to do the right thing and invest in education.
From 1st March, we are launching a preliminary ballot of our members.
Do you accept or reject the government’s recommendation of a 2.8% unfunded pay award?
Government recommends UNFUNDED pay award for 2025.
The govt has submitted its evidence for the teachers pay award 2025. It recommends:
- 2.8% for all
- To come out of EXISTING budgets
- Schools to find "efficiencies"
After 14 years of conservative cuts, where will these "efficiencies" come from?
Support staff jobs? Subjects? Resources?
We are in the midst of a deep and severe recruitment and retention crisis.
There isnt an R&R crisis in Scotland - do you know why?
Because a teacher who has been teaching for six years in Scotland, earns £6500 a year more than in England.
This is a terrible misstep.
The aspirations of 6500 more teachers, of securing the life chances of children are both admirable.
But both unachievable with a 2.8% unfunded pay award.

Today is Disability Pay Gap Day. This day serves as an important reminder that, despite strides toward workplace equality, there remains a significant gap in earnings for disabled workers.
