@Sceptre360 Azithromycin does NOT treat most UTIs
Side effects include diarrhea, liver damage, allergic reactions, and dangerous heart rhythm issues.
Wrong antibiotics also fuel resistance.
If you have UTI symptoms, don’t self-medicate.
Please seek proper medical care. 🩺

Fever in Pregnancy: What You Need to Know
Fever during pregnancy is not “ordinary.” A rise in body temperature above 38°C (100.4°F) could be a sign of infection that threatens both mother and baby.
🦠 Causes
•Malaria (very common in Africa & Asia)
•Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
•Respiratory tract infections (pneumonia, flu, COVID-19)
•Chorioamnionitis (infection of the amniotic sac)
•TORCH infections (toxoplasmosis, rubella, CMV, herpes)
•Other infections: HIV, tuberculosis, sepsis
•Non-infectious causes: autoimmune disorders, thyroid disease, drug reactions
⚠️ Complications for the Mother
•Severe anemia (esp. with malaria)
•Sepsis → organ failure
•Preterm labor
•Maternal death if untreated
⚠️ Complications for the Baby
•Miscarriage (early pregnancy fever linked to birth defects)
•Preterm birth
•Stillbirth
•Low birth weight
•Congenital infections (TORCH)
•Neonatal sepsis
💊 Treatment – What’s Safe?
✔️ Acetaminophen (Paracetamol)
•First-line drug for fever in pregnancy
•Safe for both mother & fetus when taken at the right dose
•Always stick to doctor’s recommended dosage
❌ NSAIDs (e.g. Diclofenac, Ibuprofen, Aspirin in high doses)
•Not recommended in 3rd trimester: risk of premature closure of the ductus arteriosus in the fetus (can cause heart & lung complications)
•May increase risk of low amniotic fluid (oligohydramnios)
•Can trigger delayed labor or bleeding problems
•Safer alternatives should always be used unless specifically prescribed
When to See a Doctor
Seek urgent care if fever is:
•Persistent or >38°C
•With chills, abdominal pain, vaginal discharge, or reduced fetal movement
•Not improving with acetaminophen
