๐ NWU + Phi Kappa Phi = A richer study abroad experience.
๐บ Nebraska Wesleyan junior Arabelle Horst is one of just 75 students nationwide to receive a study abroad grant by The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi! She'll use the grant to study for three weeks in Mexico City.
๐ฃ๏ธ "I remember talking to Dr. (Nathaniel) Smith, and he was talking about what a small campus community can do for you. I really liked the idea of getting to know your professors a lot more, as well as being really involved," Arabelle said of choosing NWU.

โ ๏ธ You may see some construction around one of our historic and beloved residence halls as we complete a planned upgrade to Johnson Hall to protect and preserve the building for years to come. While the work may look a bit messy right now, itโs short-term and part of our ongoing commitment to our residential community. Weโre building for the future, and excited for whatโs ahead! โ ๏ธ
๐๏ธ Until the work is complete, here's a look at what Johnson Hall looked like during and after construction in 1947, and what's taking place today!
Happy 1st day on the job to Luis Garcia!
Luis is a reentry program intern at the Center for People in Lincoln. The NWU criminology major will help people find resources, jobs, housing and support to be successful after release from incarceration.
โMy goal is to gain real life experience in my field. This will let me see how prepared I am and where I need improvement if I want to keep doing this work,โ he said.
โOne reason I knocked on this organizationโs door was to give back to a group that was with me [in the years before I transferred to NWU.] They not only gave me a scholarship; they gave me guidance and requested accountability on my behalf. This is a form of paying it back.โ
๐ The Nebraska Wesleyan University Choir recently wrapped up its "Lead With Love" tour across the Midwest! With stops in Iowa, Michigan, Indiana, and Nebraska, the group spread its message of hope and harmony through collaborations with high school choirs at each event.
๐น Congrats to Prof. Tom Trenney for his profile in the latest ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ช๐ค๐ข๐ฏ ๐๐ณ๐จ๐ข๐ฏ๐ช๐ด๐ต!
โA piece of advice I often shareโbecause it mattered to me when I heard itโis that you need to be you and let the people youโre working with be them. We all carry music within us. The courage to share itโand the generosity to receive it from othersโis sacred work.โ
Tom Trenney, NWU assistant professor of music
๐ Another year, another milestone.
๐บ Nebraska Wesleyan Students Murslen Mudhafar, Daniela Garcia, and Ashton Barlow were each awarded Gilman scholarships this spring, raising NWU's total to 75 Gilman scholars since the program began in 2001.
๐ซ What does that mean? It means Nebraska Wesleyan is a top producer of Gilman scholars among schools of fewer than 5,000 students over the 25-year history of the program. This recognition reflects our commitment to helping our students participate in international experiences that help them gain competitive career skills and global networks.
