Basic education is the cornerstone of national development. Through continued collaboration with states, local governments, and partners, we remain committed to expanding access, improving quality, and ensuring every Nigerian child has the opportunity to learn and thrive.
In line with our NESRI 6-Point Agenda and Mr President @officialABAT’s commitment to strengthening our STEMM ecosystem, the Honourable Minister of State @Suwaiba_Said and I held a high-level delegation with the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr @Bellomatawalle1, leadership of the @MODNigeria and @NDefenceAcademy to advance plans for the establishment of an Armed Forces College of Medicine and Health Sciences (AFCOM&HS).
Nigeria faces a critical shortage of medical professionals — particularly combat-trained doctors. With over 240 million people and just 189 medical personnel in the Defence Forces, expanding capacity is urgent.
The establishment of this College which will be domiciled within the Nigerian Defence Academy’s framework, is a strategic investment in Nigeria’s health security, medical workforce, and national defence.
Medical cadets will gain admission via JAMB and be commissioned as Lieutenants or Captains upon graduation. A multi-agency Technical Working Group has been set up to ensure admissions commence by October/November 2026.
The Federal Ministry of Education remains fully committed to delivering this critical initiative.

I work at a bookstore. Teenager came in daily. Read for hours. Never bought anything. Finally asked. “Looking for anything specific?” “Just reading. Can’t afford books. Library’s far. This is closer.” Let him stay. Read whatever. Whenever. Brought him snacks. Hot chocolate. Safe space. Learned his story. Foster kid. Seventh home. Books were his escape. His education. His hope.

Today, I hosted the 2nd Co-Chair Meeting of the National Talent Accelerator under @NATEPNigeria in my office, alongside the Honourable Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. @joduwole. Building on our inaugural Roundtable in November 2025, we reviewed our system analysis and agreed on decisive actions to fast-track talent development across Nigeria.
As I stated at the Roundtable, Nigeria stands at a crossroads. The Nigeria Skills Accelerator is a bold call to action — uniting government, industry, academia, and development partners to position our nation as a global hub for skilled talent and innovation.
I appreciate the partnership of the CEO of Africa Finance Corporation, Mr. Samaila Zubairu; Mr. Boye Olusanya of Flour Mills Nigeria; our committee members, delegates, and the NAPTEP team for their continued commitment to this national priority.
