Here is a short preview of the findings from my first PhD study, which investigated coaches’ experiences supporting female athletes around the menstrual cycle.
Full report and findings to follow 🤓
Thanks again @sportireland and @OffalySP for their collaboration on this project
HISTORY MADE.
Niamh Fogarty of Raheny Shamrocks AC has broken a 41 YEAR national discus record that was held by Patricia Walsh since 1984!
Niamh threw 58.40m at the Oklahoma Throws Cup, breaking Patricia’s record by nearly a full metre.
Incredible stuff!
A group of coaches have been working on starting an association for Athletics Coaches in Ireland to advocate for their rights, interests & welfare & enhance their professional development & career opportunities in Ireland

Yesterday, https://t.co/FBjL4mPL9v, the website myself and @LouiseShanahan have been working on for the past six months, went live. The site will hopefully make it easier (for you guys at least) to follow the sport, watch more events, and keep up to date with Irish athletes.
🆕 publication:
🎯 The authors developed a user-friendly tool for the categorisation of ovarian hormone profiles (OHP) that is acceptable and reliable. This OHP classification tool provides the first step in a two-step process for determining the OHPs of female athletes using a high quality scientific approach.

VERY excited to share this paper!🩸🚴🏼♀️
We used a remote protocol with athletes competing in e-cycling races across their MC.
There was no relationship between oestrogen/progesterone and race time, BUT negative symptoms linked with poorer performance.
