Over the next two weeks, I will be visiting our regional headquarters towns to engage with Paramount Chiefs, Local Councils, Heads of MDAs, and other key stakeholders on the opportunities and challenges facing decentralization and local governance in Sierra Leone.

As Chairman of the IMC on Local Governance and Decentralization, I look forward to listening, learning, and working together to identify practical solutions that strengthen coordination, improve service delivery, and bring government closer to the people. Strong local governance is essential to building a more accountable, responsive, and inclusive Sierra Leone.

Today, I joined Paramount Chiefs from across Sierra Leone on Day 2 of the National Council of Paramount Chiefs Conference on Security and Governance, where we reaffirmed the indispensable role of traditional leaders in promoting peace, strengthening security, and driving development. As Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Decentralization and Local Governance, I underscored that Paramount Chiefs remain vital partners in improving service delivery, supporting investment, mobilizing local development, and fostering the unity and national cohesion that our country needs to thrive.

From the Civic Townhall and the Sierra Leone Diaspora Investment Conference to the many meetings in between, the week provided a valuable opportunity to discuss strengthening diaspora engagement, promoting investment, and advancing Sierra Leone’s development.

Today, I had the honour of representing President Julius Maada Bio at the formal reopening of Sierra Leone’s newly modernized Government Printing Department, where I also delivered the keynote statement.

I stated that this modern facility marks an important step in strengthening national capacity and reforming public service delivery. Equipped with advanced technology, the facility is now positioned to serve government, businesses, and schools, in Sierra Leone and the subregion with greater efficiency, security, and quality.

With this investment, we are restoring local capacity, improving efficiency and security, creating jobs, and demonstrating that our public institutions can once again become productive engines of growth.
