My job as a coach is to:
1. Believe in you
2. Challenge you
3. Be patient with you
4. Listen to you
5. Get to know you
6. Empower you
7. Push you to want more
8. Lead you
9. Love you
10. Equip you for the game (AND for life)
Players: A good game shouldn’t satisfy U & a bad game shouldn’t affect your confidence. Ups & downs are part of the game & for the most part, are out of your control. Your focus should be on your work ethic, your plan & staying in the gym. Improvement brings more highs than lows.
I talked to quite a few basketball coaches today to extend invitations to our 6th annual Coaches for a Cause Jamboree on December 8th at @greatbaycc . @Justin_McIsaac & I will have a podcast revealing the match-ups next month...
“Confidence comes from preparation, not performance.” @PGCbasketball
Have you prepared well enough this summer to enter your season with confidence? Confidence you’ll make the team, contribute, improve and positively impact your team?
COACHES: You can have the best strategy, facilities, and budgets in the world, but if you don't have the hearts and minds of your players, none of it comes to life.
The higher the level you play at the more you will need to focus on taking care of your body off of the court. Make sure you are valuing your recovery time and fueling your body with the things that it needs to perform at an elite level.
Great offensive teams do these:
🏀Great spacing
🏀Make the extra pass
🏀Play inside out
🏀Play fast, but under control
🏀Set great screens
🏀Take high percentage shots
🏀Take advantage of D mistakes
🏀Don’t care who scores
The Fighting McIsaacs win a classic ..75-73 to go back to back in the @greatbaycc Seacoast Tournament ...all the highlights ..a ton of them...tomorrow morning.
