Thursday @UniteinHealth members working in mental health at the @NHS_ELFT held midday rallies against 330 job cuts and £25m this year after £70m cuts the two previous years. 1000s of job losses are happening now and threatened across London’s NHS trusts and across the country. At the same time the Govt has announced 159 mental health hubs and emergency centres but no staffing plan. These cuts are in the face of huge waiting times for 1.6 million people waiting for a health appointment. So important that union members are standing up and demanding safe staffing and finding for NHS services.

Our Co-Chair, @DrTonyOSullivan, spoke to BBC 3 Counties Radio on a prime time slot this morning about the huge round of mental health job cuts at East London Foundation Trust.
Listen to his important interview in full here:
GP practices provided 35,000,000 appointments in June 50% more than 2019
Sadly too many in the media ignore this
Many commentators refuse to accept the truth
In the end GP practices will close, GPs leave & GPs will be blamed despite doing more for less year on year
Our Co-Chair @DrTonyOSullivan said:
"The screaming contradiction is that while NHS funding for its own trusts is so limited that ELFT has to make £25m cuts, govt are happy to hand £2.5bn to private firms to expand their capacity to treat NHS patients.”

North London NHS Foundation Trust misled coroner about MH observations on a secure ward
CCTV footage contradicted staff evidence

Our Co-Chair @DrTonyOSullivan said:
“This is a perfect storm where key areas of the NHS are being outsourced to private corporations, putting strategic control of our NHS into the hands of US major tech and hedge funds."

‘Not the NHS again’
US, Big Pharma & UK Govt complicit in failing the NHS and all of us
The drug deal costs £45bn & risks 229k lives by 2036. We’ve no idea how profoundly Big Pharma politics influence the cost of medicines & our lives

❗️305 avoidable deaths every week
❗️equivalent to a jumbo jet crashing every week
This national health emergency was Streeting’s legacy, tho he claimed his job was done. Marginally lower waiting lists are down to ‘validation’ and ‘data scraping’ - deaths continue.
🙈Streeting chose to ignore years of validated shocking data from the Royal College of Emergency Medicine on avoidable deaths caused by delayed access to urgent treatment.
🔍We cannot allow the new Health Sec to ignore this - urgent action is needed now

Ask your MP to sign EDM 329 tabled by @IanByrneMP to ensure the future of general practice in England as a comprehensive service available to all free at the point of need. No to NHS privatisation.https://t.co/veNnn6NX0W
Staff at the Institute for Cancer Research have gone on strike over poor pay and working conditions. They're demanding a 16% pay rise to make up for their real-terms pay cut since 2019, proper access to pension schemes and that staff at their Sutton site be provided proper access to food and eating space.
KONP were proud to join today's strike rally in Kensington, and urge people to send messages of support!
‘Fine words’
‘It cannot be right that private companies make huge profits from the care of vulnerable people’
- Angela Rayner 2021
Completely unacceptable that some companies [make] 30% profit on placing children’
- Bridget Phillipson 2024
What must change:
❗️84% of places are run for profit (cf.5% in France)
❗️average yearly charge by private providers for a child in ‘care’ is £384,020 - x6 what Eton charges
❗️private care homes have employed ppl with convictions for violence
❗️children are unsafe, even sexually assaulted
