This meme took me back.

Having grown up evangelical (in a creationist homeschool community, reading the Bible cover to cover every year) I think I can offer some insight here:

The MAGA mindset draws heavily on decades of evangelical culture.

The worldview I grew up with was apocalyptic to its core. For them, the world is always about to end.

Chaos and collapse aren't threats to that belief, they're confirmation of it. Enter Trump.

This mindset also trains people to treat earthly life as a waiting room. They're "spiritually saving up" for the next world, which (intentionally or not) deprioritizes fixing this one.

The result is a posture that elevates chaos instead of resisting it, retreats into isolation when things get hard, and sometimes even welcomes what damages society... because it reads as prophecy fulfilled rather than a problem we need to solve.

That same conspiracist wiring makes them susceptible to nearly identical prophetic claims from MAGA (see QAnon: Trump will emerge on some given day with hidden truth and unstoppable power to destroy the deep state... it almost mirrors Revelation 1:1).

Christianity itself isn't unhealthy, but I've seen firsthand how the politically-infused evangelical interpretation of it absolutely can be.

@bestofStarTrek 4. It's not good. In fact, it's bad. But it has some of the best Kirk/Spock/McCoy interactions of the franchise, the performance of a lifetime from DeForest Kelley when we see McCoy's pain, and Laurence Luckinbill playing to perfection a villain who deserves a better movie.

That feels like the best horror installment of the #StarTrek franchise since TNG did "Schisms", possibly even better than that one. #StrangeNewWorlds

🖖 NEW #StarTrek Movie Updates from #SDCC 2026!

A NEW Star Trek Movie is coming! Well, we know that. It was announced in November 2025. However, we now have new information from the Writers and directors. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley spoke at San Diego Comic Con 2026, during Collider’s Directors panel.

The pair confirmed that a script for Paramount’s next Star Trek feature film is in progress. They’re both very excited about it and revealed people will be surprised. As it’s also been confirmed in the past, the upcoming movie won’t feature characters we’ve seen in past Star Trek movies.

Instead, there will be a new take on that. However, the most interesting detail comes from the statement that the movie takes place a little further into the future than we’ve been before.

Before anyone panics, this could mean a few things. Of course, it could suggest we’re going even further than the likes of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.

However, I think the Directors perhaps mean into the future past where the Kelvin Movies take place. So perhaps closer to The Next Generation, but sometime before that.
