President Biden: "Here's the truth: the former president fo the United States of America has created and spread a web of lies about the 2020 election. He's done so because he values power over principle."
President Obama: "Although initially rejected by many Republicans, the claims that fanned the flames of violence on January 6th have since been embraced by a sizeable portion of voters and elected officials – many of whom know better."
Pres. Obama: "If we want our children to grow up in a true democracy – not just one with elections, but one where every … every vote counts – we need to nurture and protect it. Today, that responsibility falls to all of us. And on this anniversary, nothing is more important."
Rep. Jamie Raskin to WaPo on Trump and the Jan. 6 Committee:
"If he had nothing to do with it, he's got nothing to hide. If he's got something to do with it, well, then come and tell us why you think what you did was justified. What a snowflake. What's he hiding from?"
Fallen Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick's partner says Trump should be in prison for his role in the Jan. 6 riot:
"I hold Donald Trump 100% responsible for what happened on Jan. 6 and all of the people that have enabled him." https://t.co/j4qVgDV6dG
Sen. Mitt Romney: "We ignore the lessons of January 6 at our own peril. Democracy is fragile; it cannot survive without leaders of integrity and character who care more about the strength of our Republic than about winning the next election."
Schumer: "Trump today continues to spread his poisonous vile about the big lie. To borrow from Pres. Franklin Roosevelt, the violent insurrection of Jan. 6 was a day that will live forever, in infamy … the final, bitter, unforgivable act of the worst president in modern times."
Leader Schumer: "We cannot brush this over. And what does that mean for the Senate? I think we have to talk about the realities here today, too. It means we must pass legislation, effective legislation to defend our democracy, to protect the right to vote."
“The [@January6thCmte] revealed last month that Hannity texted then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows during the riot to urge him to get Trump to stop his supporters.” https://t.co/Xe5WIfR8Jl
This is Tinsley. She was in a car accident with her humans last night. She escaped the wreckage, got the attention of police, and led them all the way back to the site of the crash. Her humans are being treated and expected to survive. Tinsley is awarded our very rare… 15/10
The @January6thCmte to Sean Hannity:
“We would like to question you regarding any conversations you had with Mr. Meadows or others about any effort to remove the President under the 25th Amendment.”
#WomanCrushWednesday goes to @KatiePhang, because during the Holidays she did an amazing job being on the anchor desk for a few shows and here's hoping this be the year @MSNBC thinks about her getting to host @11thHour.
I'd agree with Garland that as a prosecutor, you often start with defendants at the lower end of the totem pole and begin to build a case from the ground up. The more evidence you can obtain to build your case, the better.
