The current national environment is apparently a Republican over performance in NY, NH, MN, and ME, while Dems win Virginia, and Iowa by 30 points.

If this holds, VA-1 isn't even competitive. Dems are essentially guaranteed to flip the seat and the new toss-up race becomes John McGuire in VA-5.

A previously unthinkable district for Dems to target, but all the signs are there for this otherwise Safe R seat to become a competitive race, at least if this trend holds for them.

Just look at these numbers. What are we even doing here?

2026 Early Vote
🔵Dems - 8,596 (63.91%)
🔴GOP - 4,854 (36.09%)

2025 Early Vote
🔵Dems - 9,547 (51.34%)
🔴GOP - 9,049 (48.66%)

A formerly Safe R district now has the early vote patterns that the entire Commonwealth as a whole had in 2024 and 2025.

We've arguably never seen anything like this in Virginia before, at least in the post-2020s era of mass early voting.
