@matt_levine Isnt one reason that Treasury Direct is so bad because they provide a very narrow, low/no profit service (trading highly liquid, low spread bonds)? If they offered more banking services they could conceivably have more impetus for creating a better UI

@TheStalwart Interesting episode today. You mentioned again how we should pay banks for the deposit service they provide. You do in fact pay your bank via opportunity cost if you are receiving below market interest rates - you’re essentially paying them ~5% these days
