We are so excited to announce that NLC was chosen to recieve the 39th Ward Community Impact Grant. We offer sincere thanks for the generosity of the Donna C. King estate, attorney Anthony Licata, and to the 39th Ward Alderman, Samantha Nugent, for recognizing and supporting our need to improve our Greenhouse Program. We’ll be clearing the area next to our existing greenhouse, building an accessible path, and installing raised garden beds. The raised beds will ensure all of our students will be able to fully participate in planting and maintaining the garden. Having these raised garden beds will also allow our students to grow vegetables, fruits and herbs to be utilized by our students in Culinary Arts classes. This cross curricular approach allows our students to make connections between the foods they grow and healthy meals they prepare and consume. We are so grateful to be among the recipients of this grant and so excited to get this project started. Thank you to the faculty and LSC members who attended the celebration! @ChiPubSchools
