@AnasSarwar@AndyBurnhamGM@MetroMayorSteve Labour’s values will be seen in communities in North Lanarkshire tomorrow when children of all ages will be walking dangerous routes or boarding unsuitable buses to get to school after Lab councillors voted to remove school transport for them.
@NLCcutschlbuses
@katrinamurray71 There is a lot of doubt in your constituency over the process to remove school transport. The “assessments” have large parts missing, doubt over distances and unchecked wooded areas. Can you advise what you are doing to help these children get to school safely?
📢‼️Parents - what is life like for babies, children and young people in Scotland - the more stories the clearer the picture - this is a fairly short survey if your child would be happy to complete ⬇️
The concerns remain valid for many parents, children and families today. There are more questions than answers just now and all we can do is await outcomes of FOIs and complaints 😢This is not just about buses, this is about rights, law and policy underpinned by local democracy
This is what “safe” looks like to @nlcpeople. Parents of the children and young people expected to use these routes in all weathers and, at times, in the dark, strongly disagree but aren’t being heard.
Are you going to stand back and allow children to be put at risk in this way?
@NicolaKillean
We don’t feel sending children as young as 11 along routes such as the one below or a potential 3.6 mile walk to school (guidance is 3) is protecting children’s rights. We have engaged with your office on this previously.
Given UNCRC comes into law in Scotland today, are the rights of some of our children and young people, affected by the loss of schools transport being breached?
Unsafe routes, inaccurate measurements that have been reported and we await be checked, lack of engagement by officers
The local council is withdrawing school transport from people within three miles of Chryston High School.
Education reporter @MrMcEnaney walked the 'safe walking route' to find out whether the council or parents are right about how safe it is
