Rochdale Brothers Face Retrial Over Manchester Airport Police Assault.

The retrial of two brothers from Rochdale accused of assaulting a male police officer at Manchester Airport has been rescheduled.

It is now due to start on Monday 13 April 2026 at Liverpool Crown Court and is expected to last 3 to 4 weeks.

Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 20, was convicted in July 2025 of:
- Assaulting PC Lydia Ward, causing actual bodily harm.
- Assaulting emergency worker PC Ellie Cook.
- Common assault on a member of the public at a Starbucks in the airport terminal.

The jury could not reach a verdict on the additional charge that both brothers, Mohammed Fahir Amaaz and his older brother Muhammad Amaad, assaulted armed officer PC Zachary Marsden, causing actual bodily harm.

Amaaz has remained in prison on remand since his convictions in July 2025. Sentencing has been postponed until the retrial concludes.

Both brothers deny the charge against PC Marsden and maintain they acted in lawful self defence.
