This year marks 250 years since Sint Eustatius gave the #FirstSalute to the US flag, the first official recognition of American independence. A cornerstone of the centuries-strong bond we continue to build today.
We observed two minutes of silence at 2 p.m. today in observance of Dutch #RemembranceDay. We remember all, civilians and soldiers, who were killed in war situations or during peacekeeping operations since the outbreak of World War II. We will never forget.🕯️
On #WorldPressFreedomDay, we recognize the vital role journalists play in upholding democracy and accountability. We defend their right to report because access to reliable information is essential. Let's stand for press freedom and honor their contributions.

@PhillyMayor@koninklijkhuis Thank you, Mayor Parker, for the gracious hospitality extended to our Royal Couple. We look forward to deepening the ties between the Netherlands and Philadelphia.
It was an extraordinary honor to welcome @koninklijkhuis King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands to Philadelphia, as we discussed local business, and the urban environment and evolutions of our nations and cities.
250 years ago, the Netherlands were the first European nation to officially recognize the United States’ independence, and we value that act of friendship to this day.

@GovernorShapiro Thank you, Governor Shapiro, for the gracious hospitality extended to our Royal Couple. We look forward to deepening economic ties between the Netherlands and Pennsylvania.

King Willem-Alexander on the mutually beneficial partnership between Pennsylvania and the Netherlands:
"Clearly our ties have proved their worth... Dutch investments in Pennsylvania and the trade between us supports 60,000 jobs in this state."
"Our partnership goes beyond commerce... we are united by creativity and innovation."
Today, Lori and I were honored to welcome King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands to Philadelphia — the birthplace of American democracy.
Our partnership extends back centuries, when Dutch Quakers were among the first Europeans to join William Penn as he founded the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. But our close ties aren’t just a thing of the past — they’re also key to Pennsylvania’s economic success.
Dutch companies employ over 25,000 Pennsylvanians and help build the equipment that fuels our booming agriculture and life science industries. Pennsylvania also exports over $2 billion of products to the Netherlands every year — including groundbreaking medicines and pharmaceutical products that keep people healthy.
Today, I reaffirmed to the King and Queen that my Administration wants to strengthen this relationship — and we’re ready to work together to attract new investment, create more jobs, and continue creating economic opportunitity in Pennsylvania and the Netherlands alike.
