A meeting of the Joint Expeditionary Force will be held in Helsinki tomorrow. The JEF is a military partnership of 10 northern European countries. Its aim is to be able to take action quickly and effectively in the event of a crisis, both independently and in cooperation with organisations such as NATO and the United Nations.

Ahead of the summit, I met with President @alexstubb of Finland this evening. The Netherlands and Finland have excellent relations and are like-minded countries in areas such as European security, the rule of law and human rights.

We discussed the vital support for Ukraine, strengthening Europe’s role in NATO, and our concerns regarding developments in the Middle East.

Afterwards I attended a working dinner with President Stubb, Prime Minister @jonasgahrstore of Norway and Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir of Iceland. We discussed the good cooperation between the Netherlands and the Nordic countries.
