This week I visited Darayya, Nashabiyeh and al-Tall near Damascus, where people are working hard to build Syria’s future. The Netherlands supports recovery in areas such as education, livelihoods and infrastructure. 🇳🇱🇸🇾

The success of Syria’s transition matters greatly to Europe.

The EU is using its political and economic tools to help Syria on the path to an inclusive and peaceful transition.

EU-Syria relations have come a long way since Assad's fall. We want Syria to take its rightful place in the international family, and we are ready to help turn this into lasting progress.

Ontmoeting met de Syrische president Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa. We spraken over de situatie in Syrië, in de bredere regio en over het belang van een inclusieve politieke transitie.

Het ging ook over de mogelijke terugkeer van Syriërs vanuit Nederland en de mogelijkheden om te helpen bij de wederopbouw. In het bijzonder op het gebied van landbouw waar Syrië graag onze expertise voor inzet.
