Today, I expressed my solidarity with Romanian president @NicusorDanRO and Bulgarian prime minister @RumenRadevPM, after the recent and recurring attacks on commercial ships in the Black Sea. The Netherlands stands firmly with Romania and Bulgaria and other affected nations and stands ready to help and will continue to support Ukraine.
🇳🇱 With support from the Netherlands, 🇺🇳 @UNDP is advancing #AreaBasedRecovery by engaging youth in local recovery.
🙌 Through #VidNOVA:UA, young people in Zmiiv, Kharkiv Oblast, are learning new skills, sharing ideas, & carrying out construction & renovation to create a youth space for their community.
🇺🇦🇳🇱 I had a productive meeting with my good friend @ministerBZ Tom Berendsen.
We discussed continued Dutch support for Ukraine and further steps to ramp up pressure on the aggressor.
I am particularly grateful to the Netherlands for supporting Ukraine’s capabilities to intercept Russian jet-powered drones.
Accountability for Russian aggression remains a shared priority. I thanked the Netherlands for its leadership in advancing the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine and the International Claims Commission for Ukraine.
We truly value our partnership. I am grateful to Tom for his personal engagement.
As Russia intensifies attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, Ukraine urgently needs more air defence to protect its people this winter. Discussed with @andrii_sybiha how we can step up support in all areas, military, energy and infrastructure. 1/2
The EU is further increasing pressure on Russia’s military-industrial complex with nearly 1,600 new sanctions listings. The largest expansion since the start of the war. The Netherlands continues to push for a new sanctions package targeting Russia’s war economy and shadow fleet.
Russia continues its deadly attacks against Ukrainian cities and communities. Strengthening our air defence is essential to protecting our people.
We are grateful to the Netherlands for continuing to support Ukraine’s air defence, including with ammunition for our F-16s.
This is practical support that helps us protect Ukrainian lives every day. Thank you, Netherlands. 🇺🇦🇳🇱

NL and UK continue to strengthen Ukraine's cyber resilience, including through a €7 million Dutch contribution channeled via the
UK’s Ukraine Cyber Programme for 2026–2027.
Embassy of 🇳🇱 in 🇺🇦 joins the following statement:
Heads of Mission in Kyiv take note with concern of the Russian MFA's threat against diplomats and foreign citizens in Ukraine.
Russia is bound by the Vienna Convention and international humanitarian law.
We stay in Kyiv 🇺🇦
Deeply shocked by Russia’s increasing attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine: hospitals, schools, and even the National Academy of Sciences. These brutal strikes are appalling. We stand with Ukraine & will continue our support, while increasing pressure on Russia to stop its war.
Estonia has concluded Russia was behind an act of arson at a defence company. The Netherlands stands with Estonia. Europe will not be intimidated by reckless Russian actions. We stand united with our partners and remain steadfast in our support for Ukraine.
In broad daylight, Russia struck a building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the very heart of Kyiv. Tragically, there are reports of people killed and injured in the attack.
There is no bottom to Russia’s cynicism. A scientific institution full of people in the middle of a working day has become another target of its terror.
Russia is deliberately expanding the boundaries of what it believes the world will tolerate. Every attack left without a strong response only encourages the next one.
Our partners have the means to change this calculation. Ukraine urgently needs more missile interceptors to protect our cities, tougher sanctions to deprive Russia of resources for its war, and stronger pressure on everyone who helps Moscow sustain its killing machine.
Russia must learn that every attack has consequences. The price of attacking Ukrainian civilians must become unbearable for the aggressor.
We also call upon @UNESCO – the Organization dedicated, among other things, to protecting science and the scientific community – to strip the aggressor state of its voice, voting rights and its eligibility for election to any governing or working bodies.
Twelve years after the downing of flight MH17, our pursuit of truth, justice and accountability continues.
Together with our Australian, Belgian, Malaysian and Ukrainian partners, we remain committed to the victims and their loved ones.
