๐ธ Ambassador van Eeuwen paid a courtesy call to ๐ฟ๐ผ Minister of Finance Prof @MthuliNcube01.
A positive first exchange touching on the strong Dutch-Zim economic ties, continued macroeconomic stability, BIPPA farmer compensation, arrears clearance and the ongoing IMF SMP. ๐

๐Our warm thanks to our partners in the 'HIV Knows no Borders' programme for an informative and inspiring visit to Beitbridge, led by @IOMZimbabwe with @SaveChildrenZIM, @FamilysupportZ and @youngafricazw.
Through the #Dutch regional HIV/SRHR programme run from Maputo, The Netherlands has provided 24.5 million euro to 'HIV Knows no Borders'. This partnership is active in 6 countries, focused on border towns where HIV prevention is more challenging given dynamics of migration, travel, and cross border trade that strains local health services and hampers consistent testing, prevention, information sharing and treatment services. ๐๐งโโ๏ธ
Beitbridge district has a population of around 150.000 people, but more than 4 million documented travelers pass through annually, and many more undocumented. This contributes to Beitbridge having among the highest #HIV rates in Zimbabwe.
Ambassador Matthijs van Eeuwen and health focal person Gaudencia Muzambi visited project sites where our partners are working closely with local traditional and religious leaders, youth and communities, to empower especially young people with critical information on sexual health, health services and referrals. #Youth change agents are leading the way: driving outreach and messaging in an area where 72% of the people are under 35. ๐๏ธ
๐ณ๏ธโ๐Today we fly the rainbow flag to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia. The Netherlands stands for equal rights for all LGBTIQ+ persons, at home and worldwide.

Luxaflor Roses is a major Dutch-owned flower producer, exporting from Zimbabwe to Europe through the Netherlands. ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ๐ฑ๐ช๐บ

adding to Zimbabwe's export earnings.๐

๐ธ Thanks to our partner BirdLife Zimbabwe for an informative walk at Monavale wetland with Ambassador van Eeuwen. Monavale is considered a wetland of international importance and is one of 7 listed Ramsar wetlands in Zimbabwe.๐ฑ๐ฆ
Wetlands are essential to Harareโs water security but in Zimbabwe and around the world they are threatened by construction, agriculture, and mining.
Raising awareness, strengthening policy, and mobilising communities to restore and manage wetlands are essential steps for a water-secure future. ๐ฐ
We are proud to support these efforts in Zimbabwe at a time when Zimbabwe holds the presidency of the Ramsar COP15 and chairs the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands Standing Committee, showing global leadership! ๐ฟ๐ผ
