@Ro__Bro@GhostofWhip After the backyard brawl game about a month ago, your “star” player said that he wants the Oakland zoo banned from all future games. I wonder why that would be necessary if we can’t form a proper chant. Btw, we are 9-2 and you are 7-2 in bball and 7-5 us, 6-6 you in football. GG
Steelheart, Mitosis, Firefight, and Calamity by Brandon Sanderson: May
A really great series, I love the quirk the main character has of using strange metaphors that somehow make complete sense. More young adult angled than Sanderson’s usual crop, still fantastic
A (mostly) complete list of the books I’ve read this year and some short thoughts to go along!
Going to be updating this thread throughout the week as I remember books that I have read this year, and throughout the rest of the year as I read more.
Elantris by Brandon Sanderson: May
A book so good that it reignited my old passion for reading/audiobooks. Such a fantastic and charming standalone novel. I could gush about it infinitely.
What’s your favorite book that you read this year? Looking for new recommendations for artists and series. My favorite was Elantris, which is now my favorite book of all time. Read that in May of this year. Hope to see some fun picks here!
The second installment in the original Mistborn trilogy, The Well of Ascension is more fast paced, high-stakes action with a healthy dose of romance, fun, and comradery. I especially like the plot that follows the church of the survivor. Give it a listen! https://t.co/I4orNKwfiA
Now that I’ve posted about the entire main trilogy for the Reckoners series, I thought it only appropriate to post about the novella that occurs between Steelheart and Firefight. Fantastic little book that provides consequence to the first installment https://t.co/eUZujDgwkv
The final installment of the original trilogy for the reckoners series by Brandon Sanderson. As usual, he delivers on his promise to enthrall all types of readers keeping you guessing until the very last page. I strongly suggest you give it a listen! https://t.co/eIizi7DRrX
One of my favorite second installments of any series I’ve read. Firefight focuses more heavily on the yearning romance between two MC’s. Genuinely love this book/series across every twist it’s consistently entertaining, especially with the metaphors! https://t.co/V7UGKAUTmO
The first book I ever downloaded on audible a number of years back. Jim Dale is one of the best voices in storytelling of all time. He is an absolute legend. Anyone who places Stephen Fry into second place deserves major credit. I still fall asleep to HP https://t.co/ZGS4oSalsO
Very interesting adult detective mystery series by @monsterhunter45 . In his typical style, he seems to manege to range quite incredibly. Very different from MHI. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you pick it up. It is an audible-only series! https://t.co/83vaC83beK
@AWCReap@monsterhunter45@StephenKing Thanks for the tip! It’s not like I take issue with people writing that way, I assume there’s a book written for every kind of reader, I’m just not who they are reaching for when they write in erroneous pornographic paragraphs.
@monsterhunter45@StephenKing I tried to read Pet Sematary this October and couldn’t get past the idea that King enjoys writing “intimate” scenes a little bit too much. Parts of that book are downright pornographic and don’t serve the plot at all
Often considered Sanderson’s calling card, the Mistborn trilogy is truly fantastic. In my belief, cinema has not yet reached the aptitude to bring to life Sanderson’s best works like Elantris and the Mistborn series. One of the best works of fiction ever. https://t.co/qRxnyILppl
Everyone knows J.K. Rowling for her work on the Harry Potter series, however one of her lesser known modern works which I very much enjoyed listening to is The Ickabog. Very whimsical story with a message against prejudice. Highly recommended! https://t.co/1jWEIIo8fP
Another one of my favorite Brandon Sanderson one-off novels. Roughly the same length of Elantris, this beautiful tale of change, spirit, acceptance, and hard truths will enthrall you from cover to cover (perhaps chapter to chapter if you listen on audible) https://t.co/EePhP66qmn
@monsterhunter45 That’s why I didn’t read one book from graduating high school until 2 years ago (2-3 years). It was such a drag in school that it poisoned my love for books. I used to read avidly until school mandated it.
Just used my monthly credit to get Pet Sematary written by Stephen King and narrated by the chilling voice of the man behind Dexter, Michael C. Hall. Very excited to begin listening. https://t.co/cRGtkBYd1n
One of the most underrated series by Brandon Sanderson. Unique sci-fi/fantasy world with an engaging main character. One of the first truly great young adult novels/series I’ve had the pleasure to read. As always, Sanderson delivers a classic. Enjoy! https://t.co/SUEocQtt8f
It only makes sense to share my favorite book of all time on here. Elantris manages to feel like a full series, yet somehow is only 650 pages or so. Enchanting mystery, romance and action. Full 10/10 for me. Please give it a listen or a read! https://t.co/Lrj4LWVuvE
