The Ag. Executive Secretary Dr. John Onimsi Edeh and the management team of NMEC held a special meeting/interactive session with the Hon. Minister of Education, Dr. Mahruf 'Tunji Alausa at the Ministers' Conference hall today Wed. 10th September, 2025.
Today, I participated in the 2025 International Literacy Day Ministerial Press Briefing themed “Promoting Literacy in a Digital Era.” It was a moment to reaffirm our commitment to spreading education and mass literacy in Nigeria.
I shared the steps we are taking under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT GCFR. These include mapping out of school children and non literate adults, and using mobile, radio and television platforms to give every Nigerian the chance to learn.
I stressed that literacy is the foundation of development and called on partners, civil society, traditional leaders and the private sector to join us. Together we can build a Nigeria where no one is left behind in the digital world.
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY!

Today, we proudly celebrate our brilliant Nigerian students who shone at the TeenEagle Global Finals in the UK, competing with over 900 students from 40+ countries and winning gold, silver, bronze, and special awards across debate, English skills, and talent categories.
This remarkable achievement is more than medals—it is proof that Nigerian youth, when given the right opportunities, can compete and win anywhere in the world.
As a personal gesture of appreciation, I gave each winner a monetary gift from my own resources to encourage and empower them to continue striving for the highest levels of academic success.
To Nafisa, Oluwasemilore, Rukkaya, Cara, Jayden, Hadiza, Mansata and Fatim: medal or not, you are champions. You have carried Nigeria proudly onto the global stage and inspired millions of your peers to dream bigger and reach higher.
The Federal Ministry of Education remains committed to:
✅ Expanding access to quality education
✅ Promoting literacy & critical thinking
✅ Strengthening global competitiveness
✅ Building more platforms like TeenEagle for our youth
I extend a heartfelt thank you to the parents, teachers, principals and stakeholders—your sacrifices make victories like this possible.
Congratulations once again to our TeenEagle winners—you are not just today’s champions but tomorrow’s leaders and ambassadors of Nigeria.
