If you care about Israeli and Palestinian innocent lives, do not trust news coming from Hammas. Hammas are people who do not hesitate beheading children in front of their parents. They would certainly not hesitate to spread fake news!

Today I got an email from a journal editor thanking me for my "deeply thought-out review report".
This small, kind, human gesture made my evening.
Why do we not see it more often? Reviewers (and editors) would probably be happier if we at least acknowledged their hard work
@bkeithpayne @wgervais Is this a correlational study? If so, instead of looking for molecules, look at SES differences. Poorer people drink inexpensive alcohol and die younger.
I like "Spend less time wanting to be known, and more time having something to say... just like a watched pot, aspiring to be respected is the surest way to never achieve it."
I can live with papers being rejected. But not when the main reason for being rejected is that did not find what we had expected. Really rather demotivating when I'm trying to train my PhD students the values of honest reporting, preregistration etc...

I was thinking about this grant application I submitted back in 2016 with @WardLab1 and Bill Schief. Project title: "Structure-based immunogen design of a pan-betacoronavirus vaccine". Impact score: 47. The weaknesses in the summary statement didn't seem valid then. Less so now.
