Ah she definitely sees Gambit's Horseman side in his head, now I'm just waiting for that to come out at the wrong time... Also Rogue being so descriptive of their relationship must've had him #Bricked that's why he needed her to chill 😭😭
a year before the iconic "face it tiger", 61 years ago, on june 10, 1965, mary jane watson marked her first cameo appearance on "the amazing spider-man #25", leaving betty and liz stunned with her beauty.
who else on marvel comics has TWO birthdays? congratulations to our girl!
awh i forgot how ricstar, the new mutants, and generation x (minus several members 😭.) were standing together when the x-men watched krakoa go
these jubonev crumbs
Yeah- I am working on other write ups on Emma and possibly United; I think her dynamic with some of students is interesting and comparing this to Schism, which actually had proper build up with the Logan/Scott separation.
@NMenfan I loved your Emma writeup, which touched on that for United, which IMO is trash. It goes hand-in-hand that everything in X-Men is so surface level now. The plots and the relationships and the emotions.
If they had emphasized the shared history more before issue 8 and focused on Sophie and Kamala being the “odd men out” because Sophie was dead for most of this… I think it would have been better
I think it was better than anything else they’ve done with her to make her “fit into the X-line”.
Having Kamala be thrown in with a bunch of characters that have a ton of baggage and history and have her try to figure that all out was fun!
@NMenfan I think in a vacuum Kamala could've been a great PoV character into X-Men, but she just brought way 2much baggage from 2 many sides to ever be given a real chance by the readers. Almost literally no one wanted her taking the spot in the X-corner of the Universe. It was so forced.
The problem was they didn’t play up the melodrama of it all enough- it was like when Kamala comes to Laura about the Krakoan; it should have been clear Laura realized it was Julian.
What make Circe the true nemesis of Wonder Woman. Circe knows how to hurt Diana in ways that other WW's villains could never do. Not to mention, Circe has cause a lot of big battle and cause events in Wonder Woman's comics. DC writers and the fans see her as WW's archenemy
@DanArndtWrites Fully agree! X-Force and NYX was also the only books really willing to experiment and try new things, even if it fell flat.
What they really needed was more editing time and someone to basically tell them to cut certain less interesting plots (Bilal, the Synch/Prodigy beef, ect)
NYX’s biggest flaw was trying to do TOO much and choosing the least interesting plots to focus on…
Still, I think Lanzing/Kelly’s idea to use Kamala as the entry character into X-Men was brilliant and a lot of their ideas could have been great if executed better.
Honestly issue #8 is probably one of the strongest comics we’ve gotten in years and a great character study for Laura, Kiden, and Hellion. (I am biased though)
I think the biggest misstep was the “Bilal plotline”.
I don't think enough is done with Wolfsbane and Magik existing in parallel. When Ilyana struggling with a monstrous side in her solo, Rahne would have been perfect right there with her.
