I hired a woman as a house help who'd stay from 8 am to 6pm at my place. Her reference came from someone known to me and was related to this woman's mother. After I got her documents for verification work, she started working at my place. This woman told me she had 2 kids, was staying with her mother because she left her husband since he was a drunkard and thrashed her.
She had an unmarried brother and 2 unmarried sisters and no father.
While at my place she kept getting calls all the time. I thought it was her husband calling to reconcile but whenever I walked into the room, she would cut the call and say its a wrong number or someone was harassing her on behalf of her husband.
Occassionally she would ask me if she could leave early because her husband who was an auto driver is threatening to kill her. She feared he follows her and knows her timings. So to dodge him, she'd like to leave early on somedays. It made no sense to me because why follow her when you know where she lived. I kept telling her to report him to police but she refused.
First salary- she bought a new phone. I thought she needed money for kids and to help her mother but well who am I to tell what she should do with her pay.
2nd month she asked me for a leave. I gave her. But she turned up at my house at noon with tears in her eyes, no phone calls. She said her son was not well and that he had to be rushed to hospital where they want her to pay 25k. She was 9k short. My husband & mom-in law had been out of town since a few weeks and had left cash at home just incase, so I managed to give her the money. Later that eve I called her to find out how her kids were doing but her phone was switched off. I remembered that her sis had called me once to confirm if she was really working at my place. I called her number to find out I was lied to. Her kid was fine. Fed up of her antics her sister told me her history.

She married someone she loved, had 2 kids with him. But she had multiple affairs on the side and got caught by husband. She left him for her lover who she married a few weeks later. BTW... no divorce was ever taken.
The new husband refused to accept her kids so she left them with her mother. Ended up having a daughter with him (this guy was her current auto driver husband) but she started having extra marital affairs again. Got caught, husband thrashed her, she left her 8 months old daughter with him and moved back to her mom's place.
Now, a lot of burden on the mother,brother and sisters who were all working to support their future. No financial help or contribution in household chores from her side. They pushed her to get a job and support herself. After 2-3 places where she was chucked out bcoz she kept mingling too much with aaju baaju shop ke workers, she finally landed at my house where she worked for barely 2 months as I had to fire her because she kept requesting me to let her leave early giving absurd excuses or problems at home. Then I'd find out she was going out with random guys she met on instagram. Her family would keep calling me to ask her whereabouts and that would irritate me.
3 kids, 2 undivorced marriages and multiple affairs later, - a few months back I learnt that she was now marrying another guy... No divorce taken.

In the lower income working class there is no concept of divorce. Women leave marriages and kids for their lovers. Then after having a gala time at multiple places and not being in demand anymore due to their reputation, they then want to come back to their 1st husband who has probably moved on. Obviously they are not welcomed back. These women are blind to the process of mutual divorces whenit comes to their affairs but when rejected they know dowry, domestic violence etc complains

The reality of marriages in rural working class is horrible. With instagram/fb/youtube it has become worse. Divorces are not a norm...
