In response to ongoing protest across the county, Oyebisi B, Oluseyi, Executive Director of the Nigeria Network of NGOs, issued the following statement:
NNNGO Strengthens CSOs’ Capacity on Digital Rights, Safety and Security in Abuja
Abuja, Nigeria – June 18, 2026.
As part of its commitment to strengthening the capacity and resilience of civil society organisations in Nigeria, the Nigeria Network of NGOs yesterday convened a one-day Train-the-Trainer Workshop on Digital Rights, Safety and Security in Abuja.
The workshop brought together representatives of coalitions, associations, and civil society organisations to deepen their understanding of digital rights, online safety, and cybersecurity in an increasingly digital operating environment.
The training was designed to enhance digital safety awareness, improve cyber preparedness, and strengthen participants’ knowledge of digital rights. It also equipped attendees with practical skills and resources to replicate the training within their respective organisations and networks, thereby expanding the reach and impact of digital safety education across the civil society sector.
The initiative forms part of NNNGO’s broader efforts to promote a resilient, informed, and digitally secure civil society ecosystem in Nigeria.

𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵, a very important time that brings much-needed attention to the often-overlooked emotional and psychological struggles that men face.
Despite societal expectations to remain “strong” and “stoic,” men are just as vulnerable to stress, anxiety, depression, and burnout as anyone else. Unfortunately, cultural norms often discourage men from expressing their feelings or seeking help.
Coincidentally, June also celebrates another important moment for men - Fathers Day, observed on June 15 every year. Fathers Day is a day to honor the love, sacrifice, and resilience of fathers and father figures everywhere.
In recognition of the challenges men navigate daily both seen and unseen, Harvesters Africa Empowerment Foundation is taking action through a Prostate Cancer Awareness Walk on June 20 to promote early detection, raise awareness, and support access to care.

The Sustainable Development Goals rest on a simple promise: no one should be left behind. But in Nigeria, that promise is still being tested, with significant gaps across key development indicators.
The @UN estimates that 63% of Nigerians live below the national poverty line, while @UNICEF reports that more than 10 million children are out of school. 😠😭
These figures are not abstract; they point to persistent challenges that affect millions of lives every day. From limited access to quality education and healthcare to rising unemployment and poverty, the road to achieving the SDGs remains steep.
Yet, amid these challenges, there are opportunities for change. Across communities, citizens, civil society organizations, government institutions, and development partners are working to drive solutions and create measurable impact.

Sustainable Development Goals 14 and 15 focus on conserving and protecting under water and land ecosystems.
World Environment Day, 5th of June every year drives this action for the protection of our environment, raising awareness on everyday environmental issues from marine pollution to global warming to sustainable consumption and to wildlife.
This year's theme, "Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future," highlights the very important role nature plays in providing solutions to the climate crisis. From forests that absorb carbon dioxide to oceans that regulate the Earth’s temperature, nature remains our strongest ally in building resilience against environmental threats.
This is why we all must come together to protect, restore, and sustainably manage our natural environment. Every action counts from reducing plastic waste and embracing recycling, to protecting forests, conserving water, and supporting policies that safeguard biodiversity.

Oyebisi's further call aligns with the broader objectives of the C7 Summit, which is focused on advancing recommendations on the future of multilateralism, international humanitarian law, reform of global financial systems, the future of development assistance, and growing restrictions on civic space around the world.
The summit serves as a critical platform for civil society organizations to influence global policy discussions and contribute actionable recommendations to G7 leaders.
𝗔 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Closing his address, Oyebisi called on G7 leaders to:
👉 Reverse cuts to Official Development Assistance;
👉 Recommit to global solidarity targets, including the 0.7%;
👉 Protect civic space and fundamental human rights; and
👉 Promote inclusive, accountable, and effective multilateralism.
"The world does not need another declaration of concern," he concluded. "It needs concrete choices."

Paris, France - 5 June 2026
The Executive Director of the Nigeria Network of NGOs (NNNGO), Oyebisi Babatunde Oluseyi has called on G7 leaders to move beyond rhetoric and take decisive action to defend multilateralism, reverse aid cuts, and protect civic space.
Earlier today, delivering a keynote remarks at the Opening Session of the Civil 7 Summit in Paris, France, Oyebisi urged world leaders to match their commitments with concrete action, emphasizing the indispensable role of civil society in addressing today's interconnected global challenges.
The C7 Summit, convened under the theme "Global Justice and Solidarity: Mobilizing for Change," brings together civil society leaders from across the world to develop policy recommendations ahead of the G7 Leaders' Summit.
"Civil society is not an accessory to global solutions, we are at the heart of them," Oyebisi said during his keynote address.
𝗔 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲
Addressing international stakeholders, Oyebisi described the current global landscape as a defining test for international cooperation and governance.
He highlighted a convergence of crises, including rising conflicts, growing humanitarian needs, worsening climate impacts, and increasing health challenges. These pressures, he noted, are occurring at a time when civic space is shrinking and development assistance is declining.
"This is not a normal G7 year," he said. "It is a test of whether the G7 will defend multilateralism, international law, and global solidarity in practice - not just in speeches."
𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲
Speaking from the perspective of the Global South, Oyebisi stressed that civil society's demands extend beyond appeals for assistance.
"We are not here to ask for charity. We are calling for justice," he stated.
He called on global leaders to make bold political choices that address structural inequalities, democratize global financial governance, protect human rights, and ensure that affected communities have a meaningful voice in decision-making processes.
As the leader of the peak body for CSOs in Nigeria, Oyebisi emphasized the need to rebalance global systems that often exclude those most affected by crises.
𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝟳 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲
Oyebisi challenged G7 governments to align their actions with their stated commitments, drawing attention to contradictions between public declarations of support for multilateralism and policy decisions that undermine global cooperation.
"You cannot claim to defend multilateralism while cutting aid, weakening institutions, or applying international law selectively," he noted.
He further noted that the G7's significant influence over development finance, international institutions, and global policy frameworks must be matched by a corresponding commitment to responsibility and accountability.
𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿
Drawing on the experiences of civil society organizations worldwide, Oyebisi highlighted the role CSOs play as frontliners in humanitarian response, human rights protection, community development, and accountability efforts.
He therefore called for greater protection of civic space, flexible and sustainable funding mechanisms for civil society organizations, and institutionalized participation in global decision-making processes. "Without civil society, there is no accountability, no legitimacy, and no lasting progress," he stressed.
𝗖𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗟 𝟳 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆
Tomorrow, global civil society leaders will gather at the @AFD_en - Agence Française de Développement in Paris for the CIVIL 7 (C7) Summit, the official engagement group that channels civil society perspectives and policy recommendations to the #G7.
Bringing together representatives from over 100 organizations across more than 20 countries, the summit will foster dialogue and action on some of the world's most pressing issues, including international solidarity, the protection of rights and freedoms, economic justice, and the climate emergency.
As France prepares to host G7 leaders in Évian-les-Bains from June 15–17, the C7 Summit presents an opportunity for civil society, particularly voices from the Global South to influence global decision-making and advocate for a more just, inclusive, and sustainable future.
Join the Summit tomorrow at 8:00 AM (WAT) https://t.co/6B58NKmMi2 as our Executive Director, @oyebisi Babatunde Oluseyi joins fellow development leaders to deliver opening remarks and help set the tone for this important global conversation.
