At the University of Dschang, a pharmacy thesis defense took an unusual turn. Linda Mbah Abieme presented research inspired by her own family's story. For years, her mother, a woman in her sixties living in Mfou, has been preparing a herbal decoction for men suffering from sexual dysfunction, with many patients privately reporting positive results.

Rather than leaving this traditional knowledge undocumented, the young pharmacist decided to make it the subject of her doctoral research. Her study focused on two medicinal plants, Crinum zeylanicum and Aframomum melegueta, which were tested in laboratory experiments on Wistar rats. The findings confirmed their potential effectiveness in treating male sexual dysfunction, a condition that, according to data cited in the thesis, affects 57% of adult men in Cameroon. The research led to the development of Aphrocrin, a capsule-based formulation designed as a long-term treatment to be taken over several days under medical prescription, unlike conventional aphrodisiacs that are used occasionally.

In a rare and emotional moment, the graduate's mother attended the thesis defense and was praised by the examination panel for passing on traditional knowledge that has now become the subject of scientific research. Her supervisors, Professors Télesphore Nguelefack and Léon Tapondjou Azefack, together with Dr. Fanny-Aimée Essombe Malolo, emphasized that further studies are needed before any official approval can be considered. They also encouraged the young pharmacist to continue her research on these medicinal plants.

Ivorian Striker, Elye Wahi has finally obtained authorization and has been cleared to travel to Canada, the Ivorian Football Federation has announced.

According to reports, the 23-year -old was initially denied entry to Canada for his team's match against Germany because of issues related to suspicious match fixing allegations that are being investigated by French authorities. It is alleged that Wahi intentionally recieved a yellow card in May this year during a match between his club, Nice and Metz. It is also alleged that he placed a b£t on the game and was was later questioned by police but has not been charged.

Following the clearance as announced by the Ivorian Federation this Thursday June 18, Wahi should be part of their Group E clash against Germany on Saturday June 20.

FIFA has officially directed the Egyptian Football Association to remove the seven stars from their jerseys ahead of their opening match against Belgium on June 15.

This mandate is based on FIFA's policy that restricts the use of stars on national team kits exclusively to those representing FIFA World Cup victories, meaning the stars signifying Egypt’s seven Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) titles are considered non-compliant with official tournament standards.

Furthermore, FIFA has required the team to modify the gold-colored lettering used for player names and numbers. This specific request stems from the governing body's rigorous contrast and legibility requirements, which ensure that player identification remains clearly visible for both match officials and global television broadcasts.

Consequently, the team and their kit manufacturer are now tasked with updating the uniforms on a tight deadline to ensure full adherence to these standardized branding and visibility protocols before the tournament begins.
