Huge gaps exist between ID fellows knowledge and comfort in taking care of people who use drugs. This survey results in @OFIDJournal provides some starting points to discuss with our fellows

@freeradhikal @ID_fellows @shilpa_vasishta Does that mean you feel less inclined to provide service beyond your clinical ID role or do you feel like you're one of the only clinicians willing to lean into SUD care
Excited to share a new publication:
ID Fellow training in caring for people who use drugs: A national assessment of an emerging training need https://t.co/dMXFUVfkRj
This is a project led by the incredible @shilpa_vasishta in conjunction with @Raaginizzle and @SarahKurz1
What do you think? Some might argue that addiction medicine is its own specialty and that #infectiousdisease doctors should not be tasked with more roles. I would argue, who better to provide this care than those who have historically served the most vulnerable and marginalized?
With all that is going on in healthcare, it is easy to forget what an honor and privilege it is to care for patients. My last patient of the week caught me off guard with a hug and a "thank you." Policies, systems, and bureaucracies suck. People are precious. #MedX#MedTwitter
