Northern Irish writers are often instructed to subdue their regionalism to sell to English audiences. It's really time to stop.

Never afraid to push the conventional boundaries of the crime fiction novel, Clare Dunkel aka Mo Hayder, will truly be missed. Our condolences to Clare’s family. ❤️
Really sad about Mo Hayder. There are very few of us crime writers with the nerve to go where she liked to be, creatively - she was a unique writer and a great loss.
Deeply saddened to hear of the death of Mo Hayder. Mo was a genuine original, who pushed at the limits of what the genre could do. To lose her so young to such a horrible disease fills me with sorrow, not least for the books she had in her head that we'll never read.
Horrible news about Mo Hayder. She was a lovely woman and an amazing writer. One of a kind. I'm so happy to have known her and, like so many others, to have had the chance to read her fabulous books.
The industry has paid tribute to "brilliant storyteller" and crime author Clare Dunkel, also known as Mo Hayder, who has died from motor neurone disease: https://t.co/XXzo3xzp3f
