Tanzania is set to officially inaugurate the 2,115MW, Nyerere Hydropower Dam next week. The project was initiated by the late President John Magufuli in 2019.
At the initial cost of $2.9 billion, Magufuli had made it clear that no single penny would be borrowed but rather to be fully funded by Tanzania. Tanzania has now fulfilled Magufuli's wish but at the cost of $3.35 billion. This will bring Tanzania to over 4,600MW power capacity.

Kenya 🇰🇪 is advancing plans for an integrated expressway network linking Mombasa to the Uganda 🇺🇬 border.
The project will upgrade the Mombasa-Nairobi highway into a four-lane toll road, linking it with the Nairobi Expressway, the planned Rironi-Mau Summit Highway, and the Mau Summit-Eldoret-Malaba dual carriageway.
Together, these roads form part of the Northern Corridor, improving cargo transport from the Port of Mombasa to regional markets.
A separate expressway linking Kisumu and Busia is also moving forward after feasibility studies.
