A teenage boy had hearing loss
He blasted the stereo in his car.
I pointed out the danger of losing his hearing.
He'd just get a louder boombox.
Barely stable, wobbles creaking loud of stone on stone
Push an inch with breath held in, pock-marks cold and rough to touch.
Nearly able to declare the tallest is your own.
The smell of silt and taste of guilt - crashing shouts it was too much.

Humid air, nary a care where squelching steps will fall.
Tiny tapping twigs and slimy sliding minnows.
Stable grass, a grove to grasp when thorns all progress stall.
Rusty rotting riches and treasured tools no one knows.

Muffled bars, glove and snow slightly sliding, slipping in your grip
Distant cars, so far below and wind whistling, whipping as your trip
Will end as tower inside tower shifts and glimmers
Descend and hour - moments later city smoke simmers

The wings cocoon the princess, not to stain nor maim,
But still I fear the dragon lady and the dragon's flame.
She ought to flail, to faint - she's pinned in!
Will I survive? Maybe, through her redemption.

Every even edge ends.
Pens' edges seem even, yet the pen's dye ends.
Helmsmen steer, yet men veer.
The reel we see seems even, yet heft bends even webs'.
Even the sentence cedes - text lets speed neglect mens' chests' need.
Veer left.
Never seek even edges.
Be free.

Oh, look how now Otto's nook's odd books - odd color words on old sooty wood - flow so slowly off of Otto's nook.
Book of rocky sod, Book of hollow lords, Book of forgot god, Book of bony swords.
Otto now brooks old words, sold for Otto's blood.
