“When the government imposes such a broad and prolonged ban on newsgathering, it risks turning ‘security’ into a pretext for suppressing press freedom.”@nppa#drones https://t.co/cqEw2xHUzO
Expressing our concerns to the feds is something we always knew we needed to do and which we have done. We wanted to make MOME which issues & oversees press credentialing in NYC, aware of what their credentialed journalists were having to deal with https://t.co/RNXhSRDnuz
📣 Are you aware of journalists being harassed at immigration courts? Officers photographing them or their press badges? Being asked to sign in when others aren't?

Justin Pulliam is a citizen journalist with the same #1stAmendment rights as anyone else. Police cannot retaliate against him because they don't like his coverage or commentary.
Yesterday, a Texas court found that Justin's First Amendment rights were violated by the county’s Sheriff.
The court ruled not only that Fort Bend County violated Justin’s free-speech rights, but that his rights were so clearly established that Sheriff Fagan has no qualified immunity.
The ruling also lets a separate claim for false arrest while Justin was recording deputies move to trial.
