This is sad to watch whatever is going on with Fred right now on IG. It’s obvious they’re going through a messy divorce. It didn’t need to be this way. The Rockets don’t owe Fred anything. Don’t forget that they vastly overpaid him and got mocked for it when they gave him that original deal to come in and play babysitter for $40 million a year. And for his part, he delivered. Along with Dillon and Ime, Fred immediately came in and cleaned up what was considered the most toxic locker room in the league, run by Kevin Porter Jr. and Christian Wood, turning around the team’s culture (the one Rafael Stone said he’d fight anyone over, lol) and making us respectable.

But it was always supposed to be a stopgap. At some point, Fred got it in his head that this was a long term marriage. Maybe it was the boxing with Ime. Maybe it was Rafael Stone shutting down the season when he went down. Maybe it was Jalen Green turning out to be a dud, leaving the team without a playmaker. Whatever it was, there are hurt feelings it seems and it didn’t need to be this way. Obviously now, with the injury and no more NTC, it’s a no brainer for the Rockets to explore their options to upgrade their team.

If his knee is truly that compromised why would any team take him in a trade? He wouldn’t clear his physical upon arrival and the trade would be rescinded immediately.
