New data shows that the number of people leaving Emergency Departments without getting ANY care at all...has increased fivefold (yes...FIVEFOLD).
Understaffing. A lack of beds. Long wait times.
Canada's public healthcare system is in crisis.
Our governments must step up.

The hospice's medical director, Dr. Naheed Dosani, says the approach is 'all about radical love and caring for people who deserve that care.' https://t.co/UYyxgzWWuW
Homelessness is increasing across Ontario with an affordability crisis that has become significantly worse as the COVID-19 pandemic abates. https://t.co/ihSTZC5kUM
The fact that Toronto voted @oliviachow as mayor is a signal that people are done with austerity & policies that hurt the most vulnerable. People want better public spaces, transit, housing & compassion for the most vulnerable.
Optimism. Hope. Change.
It's a new day Toronto 🙏🏾
Excited to be in Baltimore as an invited keynote speaker at the National Healthcare for the Homeless Conference [@NatlHCHCouncil]. Looking forward to sharing what our PEACH team has learned about providing palliative care for unhoused people in Toronto. Wish me luck! 🙏🏽 #HCH2023
BREAKING: The City of Toronto has officially declared homelessness an emergency.
Good. It's about time we start acknowledging the crisis in our streets & protecting the human rights of unhoused people in this city. ✊🏾

I just want to thank the incredible nurses who provide compassionate care, each & every day.
You deserve fair wages. Better working conditions. And support.
Make no mistake: Our healthcare system will never survive if we do not truly value nurses.

New data from Quebec shows that surgeries in for-profit clinics cost the government up to 2.5 times more than in public facilities.
It's even more proof that public healthcare saves us money.
We must protect our public healthcare system at all costs.
Today, our palliative care team saw a terminally ill man experiencing homelessness.
He was shocked to meet health workers who cared enough to visit him on the streets.
Imagine the trauma a person has experienced to feel they aren't deserving of compassion.
Just imagine. 💔
Happy Thursday & much respect to the amazing nurses [@ontarionurses] who yesterday, literally lied on the street to make sure their demands were heard by the Ontario government.
In solidarity with nurses across Ontario. ✊🏾

BREAKING: Hundreds of health workers & organizations from ACROSS ONTARIO are at Queen’s Park right now to tell the Ontario government to immediately STOP their cruel cuts to healthcare for uninsured people...and ensure #Healthcare4all. ✊🏾 #onpoli#cdnpoli
So let me get this straight: The Ontario government is okay with spending an average of $2.8 Billion/year on highways...but isn't okay with spending an average of just $5 Million/year on life-saving healthcare coverage for uninsured people?
Where is the humanity?
Disgusted to hear the Ontario government will be ending physician & hospital services for uninsured people.
Marginalized uninsured people are human beings who deserve healthcare too.
Trying to save money by denying healthcare to society’s most vulnerable...is just wrong.
UNBELIEVABLE. The Ontario government plans to cut their paid sick days program…for good.
Nobody should have to go to work sick just to put food on the table.
We urgently need 10 paid sick days for everyone.
Workers. Deserve. Better. ✊🏽
