Day 11 building the Figma for hardware until somebody invests in it.

More and more we’re seeing personal devices, and one of the most important things is portability. Today I’m studying attachment systems: holes, metal eyelets, loops, bridges, recessed anchors and strap lugs.

The whole system is parametric, so I can change the opening, wall thickness, position, protrusion, materials and how each attachment becomes part of the device itself.

I like this one because carrying hardware sounds like a small detail, but it can completely change how a personal device is meant to live with you.

FCC 26-50 Final Rule is in the Federal Register. Effective 13 Oct 2026: Covered List logic-bearing parts can block new device auth even when an EU shop designed the rest. Pending apps that day are exempt — until a logic-part amendment. Prior auth not revoked. As at 11 Sep 2026.

Industry chatter, not a rule. The AI-hardware noise is enterprise EDA agents. For a micro shop the test is agent plus KiCad (or a harness) that keeps schematic, BOM, and revision from drifting. If it cannot fail closed, it is a faster respin.

Canada RSS-Gen / RSS-310 Issue 6 is official (as at 31 Aug 2026). Issue 5 or 6 accepted until 30 Jul 2027, then Issue 6 only for new Canada filings and stock. Not a sudden cut-over.

3 Sep US drone tariffs: 100% over 25 kg, thermal, or docking; 25% at or under 25 kg without thermal. On Blue UAS or FCC Conditional Approval on 2 Sep, that date moves to 9 Feb 2027. As at 31 Aug 2026. None of the relief is automatic.

As at 22 Aug 2026 three routes for Covered List UAS: Blue UAS; Buy American (65% US content through 2028); Conditional Approval via [email protected]. DJI and Autel excluded from the first two. CAs no longer auto-expire; Blue UAS/Buy American to 1 Jan 2028.

22 Dec 2025: FCC added foreign-produced UAS and critical components to the Covered List. As at 22 Aug 2026 that is still the position. New equipment authorisations are blocked. Already-authorised models are not pulled by that action. Allied manufacture is not an exemption.
