That gap between Toronto and NYC in the number of tall buildings under construction seems to be slighter in each new edition of Toronto’s Economic Bulletin. Here’s Feb 4, 2022
Garden Suites (Final Report) builds on lessons learned through implementation of Laneway Suites and sets the stage for further expansion of housing options in Neighborhoods with multiplexes, local neighbourhood commercial and other initiatives coming in the next few months.
Building on our success with Laneway Suites, the great team @CityPlanTO are recommending a planning framework to permit Garden Suites by amending both the Official Plan & City-wide Zoning By-law.
It’s time to talk about the kind of city we are building, and who we are building it for.
Fill out the City’s Multiplex survey by December 31st: https://t.co/KhmKFSlv1o
Renters of Toronto, it’s time to weigh in on the Multiplex Survey (before Dec 31) and help make this relatively affordable housing option available in more Toronto neighborhoods
Thank you Toronto! With your help we've reached over 6,500 responses to our Multiplex Survey. Can we get to 10,000 before the survey closes on December 31? Have your say today today at https://t.co/1zGQvTtKER
As someone born in BC and living in #Toronto I have noticed three key differences: frequent thunderstorms, lots of brick houses and enthusiasm for “the cottage”.
Incredible sad news! We had the privilege of working on a few projects in Davenport with Michelle over the years; She was such an incredible community builder & amazing human being. My deepest condolences to her family.
This kind of direction-based slant plane (a setback on the northern face of the building to let sun hit the neighbor even when they’re inches away from your lot) is something you’d expect to see if zoning were actually about light and air, and not about exclusion
Ever feel tingles when listening to music? The phenomenon called autonomous sensory meridian response—or ASMR for short—is likely at play. Thanks to the team @20korg for providing helpful understanding and multi-sensory experience https://t.co/nGRuyJTGfb
There is a massive disjunct between the speed with which our bodies can move from meeting to meeting and the speed at which internet bandwidth takes us. That time/space shift is cognitively challenging, exceedingly difficult to acclimatize to. I feel now, we are in the matrix
Fantastic analysis from data scientist Erik Drysdale: Much of Toronto is actually losing people. 56/140 neighbourhoods are smaller 2016 than in 1971. https://t.co/255m0P1dBJ 1/
With so much on the go in Ward 9, our team met to discuss all the local projects to ensure we deliver them to the community. We look forward to continuing to serve #DavenportTO in 2021 and keeping it be best Ward in Toronto. #TeamBailao
650,000 residents are mandated (by the Provincial Growth Plan) to be accommodated within Toronto by 2051. We can’t place them all in 80-storey towers and McMansions. The #missingmiddle is key. Gentle density is key. Housing choice is key.
It should not be easier to tear down a home to build a mansion than a triplex or fourplex in our communities. We need to address missing middle challenges if we want to continue having inclusive communities. This is not only moving forward. It is going back to our roots.
